4. Florida-grad. Russia comes to USA. It is important to raise responsible Gay people. Not to raise damaged Gay people – because eventually all damaged people (Gay or otherwise) end up homeless, dead, jailed, or on disability (or another form of welfare). It is during the early childhood years that homophobic slurs are first encountered – and like Freud said: "Give me the child at 7 and I will give you the man."

6. I support this young man’s pride, but he needs to understand the school cannot have everyone protesting and distracting from the school’s mission of educating. He is of an age to properly voice his views among his peers, family, and faculty. However, it is inappropriate to have discussions of sexuality with children ages 4-8 or so…period. It’s not “don’t say gay”, it’s more like it’s not appropriate to talk about sexuality with little kids. Let them be kids.

It wasn’t till 6th grade ,biology and anatomy , and a special assembly for sixth seventh graders about growing up , but public school is not the place or the right people to discuss individual identity issues or sexual orientation.. so k-3rd grade ,why on earth is there any reason anyone other than a child’s parents,discussing sexual issues with kindergarten to third grade children, and who encouraged children to fight for this? Back in the 90s, as a student, I was not taught about the reproductive system, sexual organs, and sexuality until the 5th grade (that is at the age of 10-11 years old).
