I bought a Manual Coyote Mustang 5.0 with the MT-82 Manual transmission at my local auction. It was in the AS-IS sale lot and sold really cheap; I found out why on the way home.

  1. check for the magnet inside the housing if it has metal flakes, the gears are likely busted else the problem could be that the hook inside has been worn either way an expert can tell right away if there it's worth refurbishing else I bet a junk yard has plenty of spare transmissions also does it change to gear when engine isn't running if yes then the syncronization is busted. If it would just refuse to go on gear then it would be a cheap fix since that is commonly a linkage problem.

  2. Sounds like a bent shift fork not allowing the syncromesh to align and is slightly off.. Or the synchro itself is borked.. A common fault is the bent fork because someone ape shifted it.

  3. New Edge owner here… I gave myself a budget of $6k. So far I have spent $4500 including the initial purchase price of $3200. Car is a 2003 V6 Mustang convertible with an automatic transmission with 122k original miles. I love my New Edges. Both the first one that was totalled in 2017 and this new girl.

  4. As long as you are up grading everything, just buy a Tremric six speed, and be done with a 160K mile tranny…Interesting build to up grade ..Subbed, and always a thumbs up!

  5. @Samcrac it is 180k miles, you should just rebuild the trans. In fact, you should rebuild it yourself in your garage. Just disassemble it and see what's broken, and replace whatever is broken.

  6. Man that startup sounded 👌🏼 I daily a 2010 with the 4.0 and it has 173k miles still drives great. Love this body style and wish I had that Coyote engine.

  7. Can't wait to see the new paint! I noticed right away that it had gotten some bad paint work but I know you'll have it looking factory fresh in no time!

  8. Put a BMW ZF8 Automatic Gearbox in it, but modify it to use manual controls. If you need help theres a certain fella who is rich and likes to build petrol teslas 😏 get him to help
