I am surprised, in a way, that they did not mention the `Tea Party` movement, which Donald Trump took extreme advantage of, as a reason for why his xenophobic strategy worked so well in 2016. This is an ideology that did not exist in the 1990's &, therefore, there was no ability to take advantage of it. No one, not Pat Buchanan or anyone else, was able to resonate with that xenophobic ideology because it just did not exist back then.

Those who voted for Trump in 2020 believe he won, its just taking along time to count the vote.
In the 1964 Presidential election those who voted for Barry Goldwater believed he won, it just took 16 years to count the vote. Goldwater lost to Democrat Lyndon B. Johnson by one of the largest margins in history but his supporters still believed that he won.
Goldwater views on social issues differ from the G.O.P. of today. He criticized the "moneymaking ventures by fellows like Pat Robertson and others (in the Republican Party) who are trying to…make a religious organization out of it." He supported homosexuals serving openly in the military, environmental protection, abortion rights and the legalization of medical marijuana. Mr. Todd acts like there is no difference between the 3 million illegals that Reagan amnestied and the 11 to 20 million (reports and estimates vary) that are currently occupying our country and demanding that they be treated like regular, law-abiding immigrants.

We could use this opportunity to make tons of new jobs and money. There could even be classes to teach English. The people that show up can work the hotels and gas stations and stores in that area until they pass the class and get live outside the port. Teachers would be a government paid job. And they don't even need to learn the entire language. These days you can use your phone to translate and talk to people that speak different languages, im only saying this much to make Republicans happy. Before the Republic going to do anything about the problems in America like immigration poverty food the covid crisis domestic terrorist proud boys etc etc they need that first start learning how to tell the truth that day need to learn how to get away from Donald Trump they need to put transparency honesty and morals back in the Republican party which means they probably got to get rid of most of the Republican party and start over again so you be hard-pressed to find morals truth and Justice and all these things in any of the Republicans
