I avoid 2-lane roads on long trips whenever possible. I prefer divided highways.

Two way highways with no medians/barrier are common deathtraps across Texas.
75 MPH limit on a small highway is a problem. no chance for braking to a less lethal speed for collision. Some highways in US are not designed for such high speed and they are not even divided for oncoming traffic but some Joes in the government think they are safe…….
