Ukraine does not have enough pilots to even maintain a semblance of an Air Force. This is why Biden refuses to allow NATO to give Zelenksyy any MIG's because he knows the next ask will be pilots to fly them. Once you have NATO pilots shooting down and being shot down by Russia, it becomes WW3. We need to save WW3 for the Chinese, WW4 is just way to early.

As much as I hate to agree with Biden, he is right on this (I almost threw up). A no fly zone in Ukraine would mean direct military confrontation with Russia. We haven’t had a direct confrontation with a nuclear power ever and that’s for a reason.
If Russia is a dying star on the world stage (and they are) the more desperate they feel at keeping their status of a world power intact they will grow more accustomed to the use of their nukes. Russia has around almost 1000 more nukes than the US and that is a major problem.
