    A lot of thought and consideration was put into the drafting of the Constitution and BOR. It is written clear and concise, and not as a religious text open for variations of personal interpretation, perversion, and obfuscation.
    If the Founding Fathers intended the 2nd Amendment to not apply to civilians, there is literally no point for 2A to be included in these documents and simply would not be in them.
    A militia cannot exist without civilians being armed. It is literally a group of armed civilians that may or may not have military experience or training and are not a part of a government standing armed force. If citizens are not allowed to keep and bear arms, there can be no militia, hence the 2nd Amendment is null and void.
    A group of unarmed civilians is inadequate to necessity for the security of a free state.
    Here’s the accurate version of Washington said:
    "A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined; to which end a uniform and well-digested plan is requisite; and their safety and interest require that they should promote such manufactories as tend to render them independent of others for essential, particularly military, supplies."

    Additionally, if they intended to allow or restrict the 2nd Amendment to only specific types or capabilities of arms, those would have been specified instead of the broad term actually applied, "arms."
