Well, they took their sweet time, a senator walked out like a petulant child during the Hearings, and embarrassingly chip-on-shoulder lines of questioning were pursued, but the grown-ups prevailed in the end. Jeez, does it have to be this hard? As a crusty old white person myself, I think that making your racism obvious, is meant to be avoided. But no, there were some senators keen to show they would happily tickle the clitoral trigger of racism in all its forms, in the hope of chasing down a dwindling number of votes and/or likes on some social media measure. Many politicians have worked hard to move forward. Some, have reached the 1960’s, such has been their endeavours.
Some, are a century behind, and will perish in due course. The job of a leader is to lead – not from behind, but in an enlightened way, from the front. Show a new better way. Show that the content of the character, the actions and the deeds, doing your damn job, actually counts more than an irrational and unexplainable prejudice based solely on skin colour. I could find stray dogs that would behave better in those Hearings than some Republican senators. Utterly a disgrace to their office. Judge Jackson, you be you, it’s all that’s needed.
Since the term woman seems to have lost any meaning it isn’t so historical since there has already been a black justice. Unless this is historic for being the first groomer on the Supreme Court???

Agree to a certain point… since some people have trouble defining what a women is, the Supreme Court already has an African American. Since she cannot define what a woman is, she cant claim to be the first African American woman on the court. Liberal logic at its best. 😉

Now there is a disproportionately high number of African Americans on SCOTUS (22% vs 13%). When will Asian-Americans be represented? As a Hispanic, I am also feeling quite unrepresented. Libbies?
