  1. I was doing some digging on this story, and it looks like what could be causing the cancer, is ionizing radiation. The school is located about 11 miles from a nuclear bomb development site called the Middlesex Sampling Plant. (The plant has since been closed.) It’s theorized that radioactive waste had been disposed into the soil. The school was built in 1967, and some speculate that the school was built directly on top of the contaminated soil.

  2. I seriously doubt it's radiation as a source strong enough to affect that many people over that period of time would light up a Geiger counter and be easy to locate. More over, a dangerous radiation source would cause a much wider variety of cancers than just brain tumors. This sounds more like toxic chemical exposure, possibly in the plumbing, water, or something like that in the school or town.

  3. That's alot of people . It can be a genetical anomaly in the area where they happen to be predisposed or the building materials are cancerous

  4. We had an odd run of sick teachers from my elementary school. After I graduated high school it seems like they all died from cancer. They always said it was asbestos or in the water fountains.

  5. I bet it has something more to do with the land, water, or environment, not just the school… Heck it's could be like that one city who was using waste oil to spray on dirt roads to keep dust down, that led to serious health issues for the community..

  6. People wearing reflective Walmart vests pushing a baby scroller are testing radiation levels. I’m comforted they’ll get to the bottom of this.

  7. Imagine: no one saw the connection. It was discovered by chance and independent research. I wonder how many schools in the US have issues like this?

  8. If I’m a student at that school and I just saw this on the news, you can bet I’ll be asking my parents to be transferred to another school immediately. 1-5 cases would be ok, but over 100 from the same school over a span of 30+yrs. It’s pretty much like driving without wearing a seatbelt if you still attend that school.

  9. I’ve come to realize tax money is going towards everything it don’t need to go towards… in fact I think the older generation left us with a tax mess ONLY to see if we learned a damn thing in school and could correct it. Clearly we did not and cannot.
