The narrative of a "person of color" overcoming the odds is fine by me, but I bet not too many people would have known about Ms Watkins' involvement in the "Mars Rover", were it not mentioned in a passing, because of her "milestone crown" as the 1st non-white & black female "spacewalker" and soon-to-be long-term occupant of the ISS. Before this, I was only mindful of one Nigerian who reportedly took on a "Mars Rover" design project as the team leader. That man subsequently went onto open a UAV drone production concern.
