An interesting angle to this: many commenters seem to take a clearly negative attitude towards these woman because they had cosmetic surgery done to themselves. They are considered to be superficial. I think there’s some irony there.

Their deception about their OWN changing selves, in addition to their unbelievably shallow use of social media photoshopping and filters, all the while selling by deception, products they CLAIM to make you look like them, much of which was culturally appropriated in the first place.
As a whole, they ruined the self esteem and the mental growth of a huge portion of an entire generation of (mostly) young people.
A serious sociological event, not because they’re a talented family, but rather, they were people who were more than willing to live a dishonest life, after discarding their morals.
Timing ensured their celebrity grew exponentially, BECAUSE all the stars aligned with the explosion of social media & the marketing potential to make someone famous & literally sell millions of pieces of crap.
Posting selfies etc became the equivalent of having a celebrity coming into your home.
Compare to a scenario of a Dad in 1980, creating things in his garage, telling the Mom, “if I could only get 1,000 people to buy my $1,000 invention, I’d be a millionaire!”…..
Well even if the invention was great, finding the thousand people was not an easy feat back in the day. GLOBALIZATION and social media changed EVERYTHING. That 1,000 people today is a grain of sand on a big BIG beach…..Easily achievable!
Add social media’s emergence to Kim’s tape self-release and the TALK it generated; and an explosion of marketing newly available $ “acceptable” cosmetic procedures…. Well, it’s the Kartrashian Jenner effect. A perfect storm for a family of now perfectly fake, professional hucksters with inflated……egos. A scourge that’s created people who will NEVER be satisfied with how they look.
And at this point it would take acknowledgment of the issue before the issue could be fixed.
We have now peaked with that, in my opinion, but we’re a long, long way from being normalized, and that is a crying shame. 😔
