  1. Hey Chris, resolution is not accuracy and vice versa. When it comes to 3D scanning, resolution is the amount of detail you're looking to capture (i.e. just like a pixelate image, more pixels will give you more detail and smoother line, where as less pixels will give you a blocky image) I work for a 3D scanning company called Rapid3D, we sell the technology and do service work as well.

  2. Hey, Chris for 3D scanning, you don't really need a "scanner" per se or even a lidar iPhone you can use the camera that you already own for the video process and then take advantage of photogrammetry to construct the model. (Also, the phone App seems to do the same)

    Incidentally, that's one of the steps on how Turn 10 adds cars to Forza!
