Some of these comments seem as if they have no idea what Nancy was even talking about. Our country needs work and she is accurate still. Whether you commenters can comprehend her words is debatable.
I strongly condemn this domestic terrorists actions. It is a problem we have had for quite some time, and even a huge problem the past 10 years. What is the root or cause of this problem? I don't know. Analysts are working on figuring it out. The other issue is the 2nd amendment and the right to free speech, but mind you those rights are only balanced and upheld when used in accordance with the law. They are not for stoking fear and hate, for turning people against eachother, for oppressing people, for violence against fellow humans, or for any other unethical, immoral, and in many cases illegal actions. Free speech and the right to bear arms are upheld with ethical, moral, or legal speech or actions. The freedom of a person to speak their truth from their perspective regardless of disagreement or inaction, and the freedom to defend one's self and family and neighbors against violent acts like home invasions, rapes, and murders. These rights are granted but not to be taken for granted. You do not have the right to carry out your illegal actions with the pretense of the 1st or 2nd amendment, this is why community is important so that we can all know and look after eachother. Not to criticize and tear each other apart with blame games, but to ensure that we are all free and that violent criminals either are prevented from carrying out their actions or halted. It is my personal opinion that this shooting would not have been prevented with more and more counseling because it is also my opinion that this domestic terrorist knew what he was doing was wrong and did it anyway. Yes, it is my opinion based on some preliminary reports that the red flag laws should have been in effect in his case based on his own testimony about his thoughts and actions during any of the counseling or contacts with authorities or officials in the year or years leading up to his violent acts on innocent people. That didn't happen and those red flag laws are new on the books and so not prevalently utilized. However, the direct cause of the terroristic action was the shooter himself. Is he worse or better than the other recent violent murder related to a photo bombing? I think neither, that although the cases are distinct and separate it is the same murderous evil stored up in both of them or any of these people who think, for themselves, that picking up a gun and shooting as many people as possible or even just 1 is somehow within your rights or ever rational. Murder has always been illegal and those laws are almost as old as time. How to best pursue or prevent criminals from committing acts forms the basis for laws like red flag laws or other measures in accordance with the law, but murder is not a new concept although it disguises itself as racist, terrorist, raging, cold and calculated, but its all murder and its all illegal. There is an important distinction in this case that the shooter openly admits being racist and killing people based on the color of their skin and even his "reasoning" as if he is trying for temporary insanity defense or mental health defense, but I find it hard to believe he was misguided when I am certain that he knew what he was doing was wrong and against everything he was ever taught. I feel no sympathy for this terrorist and he has wrecked lives no different than any other recent mass murderer. All of them claiming this theory or that thought process in attempts to avoid the guilt and the abyssal truth that their actions are terrible and they are not heroes but the scum of the Earth. The Parkland shooter tried this but then realized his actions and admitted to himself that he deserved the death penalty. It took him being apprehended and going to prison to realize that he is not escaping judgment in this life. The Aurora shooter tried to injure and kill himself after bring locked up but I don't think he really felt remorse. I can find the intricate differences in each of them after watching the news or reading the reports, but if I was the responding officer and you hadn't already put down your weapons in a fetal position I would kill you all where you stand. This domestic extremism WILL be rooted out, every single one of you WILL face judgment, and NONE of you will ever know what glory is.
