Some 43 years later, since my tour of duty (1978-1979) at Camp Colbern in South Korea, I still remember the moment (June 1979,) when some of us were selected from our platoon, and then detailed to the "Truce Village" at the "DMZ," in preparation for the arrival of the then U.S. President Jimmy Carter.
After we had gotten off from the main road (riding in the back of a M135A2 vehicle,) onto the dirt road leading us to the "Truce Village" at Panmonjum, and observing that vast open terrain.
We then became so quiet, after we had truly realized what our presence at the "R.O.K," was all about.
