33. it will be very interesting to watch our American, media-driven response to monkeypox in comparison to Covid. it spreads by droplets (sometime asymptomatically), and causes flu-like symptoms. 3-4 week recovery. fatality rates have historically been 3-6% (much more than Covid), and severe sickness largely effects children (opposite of Covid). while the data suggests monkeypox more dangerous than Covid (if it continues spreading), i suspect the media fear tactics will not compare to what we experienced the last couple years. and i’d bet money we wont shut down the global economy. i also suspect outlets will censor data and opinions that aren’t “in line” with convenient politics.
