  17. In response to all the God bless you replies. I think belief in God is similar to the Nihilism that gives rise to these shootings. People can go around polluting and destroying, killing and whatever evil they wish. God will wash away all the sins. Jesus will wipe the slate clean and welcome you into another place called heaven that is far away and doesn't have any connection to Earth. It doesn't matter what happens here on Earth because those who have faith in Jesus will be somewhere else when they die. Similar to belief that nothing matters, nothing anyone does has any point and morality is just a unnecessary limitation. Nihilism. Jesus is American Nihilism. Gun control would be great, but when you have religious and non-religious people alike believing they live in a consequence free world the moment they die, this will always be the result. Another problem is nobody who is actually under this delusion is open to changing their belief. They are firm. They feel hatred or contempt for someone who points it out. I appreciate your compassion, but when you add in God it's a slap in the face because that's part of the problem in America.

  18. Weapons should not be so easily available period in any civilized country. If you join the military or police or terrorist organization yah it is necessary to have access. Mental health is a huge issue in gun ownership. US has the highest death by gun shot wounds. The constitution rights to bear arms should not impinge on the rights of other citizens to live without fear of violence. I was in Northern Ireland in 1993 during which the IRA Shin Fein was carrying out terrorist acts against the British. When I was in Northern Ireland I could sense the fear. As an international student in the US I can feel the same fear as when I was in Northern Ireland. It is time for Americans demand to live in a gun free, violence free society. If US gun manufactures need to make money sell their guns to the proper organizations or countries that need them. US is no longer the wild wild west where everyone needs to have a gun for protection. If someone wants to shoot guns, send them to Ukraine to defend them against the Russians. If one hundred thousand Americans went to Ukraine with their weapons the Ukraine war will be over in weeks. That is what a gun really for is to defend against tyrants.

  19. Make no mistake, the ultimate cause for this tragedy comes down to this new age capitalism! Capitalism used to valuable in a society, now it just exploits/alienates it entirely. It’s unbecoming that we cannot come to a unanimous decision to just make sure every human alive can have access to food, water, shelter, education and healthcare without having to worry about monetary responsibilities. This is not a socialist or a communist perspective, it is an altruistic perspective. Capitalism breads fear more than ever. From that fear comes this evil that has yet to be contained and is only showing signs of growing stronger unless we put a stop to it all.

  39. Positive energy, prayers, and thougths will make no difference in the horrifying waves of violence that are killing our communities. We need meaningful gun control laws. It's no accident that since the few laws we have been relaxed — why should any civilian need an assault rifle — gun deaths have gone way up. Disgusting.

  40. What are the parkland children’s gender identities? Did they have pronouns? What about the lgbtq children from Uvalde? Did they get a chance to announce their pronouns before their untimely demise? What about drag queen story time has it raised their awareness?
