Police say a mother preparing for a birthday party left her son unattended in a car in the driveway of their Houston home. ABC News’ Rhiannon Ally has more.

I never close my windows all the way up in the hot summer. I leave an inch of opening for ventilation. It makes a huge difference in the cabin temperature. And it also prevents me from turning my dog into a hot dog.
It was an accident. No charges necessary.

I don’t care how much I’m doing and running like crazy… I would NEVER forget my 5 year old!!!!!!! Ridiculous I don’t understand how a mother could forget her own child. These incidents are so heartbreaking and can be prevented if they open their eyes!

There is no excuse for this.. recently something kind of similar happened to me. I had a much older vehicle and never had a push start and recently got a push start and always made a habit of leaving my belongings in the backseat and putting my keys in my pocket and sadly that day was an errands morning and didn't have pockets and was in a rush to head to pick up my kids from school and didnt notice I had left my big heavy Keychain by heavy I mean I have a bunch of Keychains on my car key holder and I had just placed my daughter in her car seat completely buckled and it must've been around 85 or a bit higher outside and my biggest fear came true when I went to close her door and realized I had left my keys on the floor my car locked all doors and my childs door didnt fully close. So even with about an inch of being open the door would not budge and still locked even though my keys were inside the car and I began to panic while i waited for triple A to get here and those couple mins after calling felt like an eternity and my child who is 34 months realized it wasn't funny anymore that mommy had been locked out of the car she began yo start sweating and I was already on the phone with 911 to get them there before it was too late. This is no where as bad as forgetting my child in a vehicle in hot weather's but it felt just as terrible and since then have PTSD… NEVER will happen again and honestly the fact that cars lock that way on their own is just as bad. Not sharing this too be judged but I'd understand if someone had 15 kids and forgot their name or to brush their teeth but never forgetting the child in the vehicle doesnt matter how busy or in a rush a parent is you never forget a child in the vehicle there is zero excuse. My story is an example of how a parent locks themselves out of vehicles and even then the parents who simply forgot their keys in the vehicle the child can still be at risk of being in a hot vehicle but thank goodness for those first responders who were very prepared and opened the door after 15 mins and my child was fine. Parents pls pls make sure to never leave your keys in the car when placing your child in their seat these push start cars literally lock right as you close your door.
There’s no excuse as a parent one can leave your child inside and not remember u are with ur child as u are closing ur home door
2-3 hours? You cooked your own child to death for 2-3 hours? I hope CPS gets involved and takes any other children until they can know they’re safe. She should certainly face charges.

The mom should get charge apparently she’s drunk she forgot her son in the car while stuck in the Summer heat!. They should definitely put her back on the car and see if she’ll survive for eight hours then justice is served!
Maybe we should lock her in the car for the same amount of time to see how long she can stand it and the pain her son went through.. that might teach parents to not “forget”.

A 5 year old?!?! This is insane… 2-3 hours?! My 5 year old (who can also unbuckle) would lose it if I left them in the car alone and would probably scream high pitched the entire time.
