  1. That sort of number suggests that ATC is a very very high paying job. But its also one of the most challenging and stressful. Granted today ATC is more AI automated control with staff as backup, never the less its always human to human contact. just with AI steering the ship.

  2. ATC staffing isn't even the majority of the problem, it's the airline staffing issues causing the majority of delays and cancelations. To circumvent the requirement that some of their $50B bailout had to be used to keep their employees, they pressured pilots and flight attendants to retire early to keep that money for themselves. The airlines know they're short-staffed and don't care, and continue to schedule flights they don't know they'll have people for.
