Is the Pixel 9 Pro XL still worth it after six months? Many consider it the best Pixel phone ever, and for good reason: amazing cameras and pure Android. But with its sub-flagship Tensor G4 processor and a $1,099 price tag, does it hold up against the competition in the long run?

Hey guys, thanks for watching! What are your thoughts on the Pixel 9 Pro XL?
This has to said. Fingerprints, bezels, all of this crap is irrelevant. If you are buying these, it is an elite portable computer that you can text and call with. If you are not protecting such a device, more expensive, than a great laptop, you are a moron with zero logic, because for maybe $50 for a very protective case and maybe $40 for a screen and lens protection. I bought an ASUS laptop, open box, $700 Canadian, it is great and people ask me for suggestions of great laptop backpack to protect it, how good is the padding, but then ask why I have an Otterbox Defender with military grade screen and lens protection, it is because the smartphone is about $300-$400 more money. Duh. It is a mobile computer. Protect it. It would be like putting $700 in a flawless pants pocket and choosing the pocket with the hole in it to shove $1100 into. That is completely illogical. Met a girl in a mall. She had literally just bought a new Apple Pro Max in the mall and put a Hello Kitty $12 case on it. $1500 device. She asked about the bulk of my case. I said it protects it and slides into my pocket easily, showing her. She said, well I don't drop my phone. I politely said I don't plan to drop mine either, then she fumbled her brand new $1500 phone, dropping it, picked it up and the screen was absolutely shattered. I didn't said I told you so, or, we prptect things for accidents, because she was crying profoundly. Likely worried about bexels and matte finishing, with her brand new phone a shattered mess. No logic to be found? I would buy insurance on a $1500 tv, protect a $1500 laptop, but not bother protecting a $1500 smartphone? Really. This is not an attack. It is reviewers across the board worried about bexels and fingerprint marks on a device that should be absolutely protected. You can disagree hate me, all good, but, go take a logic course at your local University. $1500 is $1500. Why protect one device well, the other none, but they are the same value?Regardless. Be well. Great video. Your hard earned money.
My Pixel 9 Pro XL screen's oleophobic coating must have worn off in the year I've been using it because it's really become a smudgy mess. Luckily adding a screen protector solved the problem.
I use the temperature sensor frequently including with Fitbit. Oh and of course when I've gotten COVID and a throat virus and the flu. I'm just a lucky guy lol I do like the camera but also the AI features like AI email features, and also Gemini as well as call notes, in call scam detection and call screening. I do like screen sharing as it's helped me job hunting and getting interviews and also project Astra because it's useful and fun. I can get decent battery on it if I'm not on it constantly and I have light theme, not dark, 120hz and Max resolution. I only do call of duty Mobile on it and maybe pocket camp animal crossing once in a while but I bought it as a work phone for IT. It's plenty useful and has features other phones do not have. And you can't beat the OS updates and Pixel drops. I just can't wait to get WearOS 6 on my Watch 3. It and my other already have material 3 but I want that extra 20% or so battery life on my watch lol and this September update on my phone improved battery life. It's very welcome. Great video and channel and definitely I've had different experiences then you but that's normal. We're all experiencing life differently.
The bezels virtually disappear once the phone is in a decent protective case
i have a pixel 7 xl pro , its 3 ears old now and its one of the best phone !! still great batteri life , and fast , why sall i get a newer one , ????
I absolutely loved my pixel 9 pro XL, but I had an issue where calls would just go straight to voicemail. I tried 3 different pixels on two separate carriers with the same result.
Watching this from Pixel 9 Pro. There's not much change from last year's pixel 8 pro. Not worth upgrading
The best Pixel lol this phone is trash. I hate using it every day
I got my 9 pro XL at $580 brand new. I just need to find the right case because the phone still feels a little large. Overall, its a good phone. The camera is a banger.
Ahh I still prefer the big circle hole-punch cutout on the Pixel 9 Pro over the iPhone 16’s Dynamic Island pill-shaped cutout. It just feels less distracting and not as annoying to look at, especially when watching videos or movies in full screen. 🙂
dude I have the base pixel 9 and its battery life is insane compared to my iPhone 15 pro. I can wake up at 5:50 in the morning starting at 100% with the iPhone and start work at 7, listen to music on my AirPods Pro 2 constantly at full volume until 12 in the afternoon for lunch and then eat for 15 – 20 minutes and then scroll on instagram or TikTok or Facebook for the rest of the hour constantly, then listen to music from 1 to 4 non stop again and by the time I get home my iPhone is at 12% – 22% and this includes apple car play used while driving for 20 – 30 minutes at a time, there and back too. The pixel with the same exact usage including android auto and still using my AirPods "and the pixel has its own phone number", I get home with 59% – 68% !!!! thats crazy good compared to my iPhone, and im talking about the base model pixel 9… not the A but the regular 9 with smallest amount of storage. and I have it set up exactly like my iPhone in the closest way possible with both all the setting and the apps and however the screens are laid out. basely cloned my iPhone but in android form.
I genuinely don't understand people complaining about bezels, especially if they prefer a flat display to a curved one. Razor thin bezels look nice, just like a curved display, but also create the same usage problems as a curved display.
I do have to agree that the camera punch hole is a little more distracting than on other phones though. But like he acknowledged in the video, and as is the case with the bezels, there's a function to be had for the slight decrease in futuristic looking aesthetics.
I have no idea if the Pixel had good or bad battery life because of the ad for a power bank. I guess this is the Internet now
I know people said it was "too gimmicky," but I really like the thermometer sensor. I use it much more than I thought I would.
I still can't solve the problem when shooting Instagram story through the app with pixel 9 pro xl… there's a delay between audio and picture…I can't understand how this kind of bug exist flagship phone. Any solutions?
Gallery GO by Google is a much better app for photos than Google photos. Think of google photos as your iCloud, and gallery GO as your gallery. Ones good for storing and ones good for browsing. Folks need to realize it exists.
Google messages and gallery really ugly
I don’t know many people who game heavily on their phone.
How did you like Brașov, Romania?
Pixel 9 Pro is an excellent phone, the more I use it, the more I love it. I have the XL and it's a little too wide with a case but has an excellent in hand feeling without a case. The charging speed is ok from my point of view, I usually charge it with the original cable and a 45w charger and keep it between 20 and 80 % and it doesn't take longer than 45 minutes. I don't like that it doesn't have double tap off but I installed a widget and I heard Android 16 brings that to the table. Wish it was a little more customizable though (different font styles, edge lights for notifications and a couple of others) but still a wonderful phone!
It's a good phone but it's overpriced. When I bought my 5 and 7 they were a fair price but they got greedy. I'm now thinking to get a 9 when the 10 comes out just for the price drop.
Pixel 9 is the best pixel yet, but the excitement of using it nowhere near the Pixel 1 somehow 🙁
Might sound weird but Now Playing is the feature I miss the most since I moved away from my Pixel. Shazam just doesn't cut it for me. So glad it got a mention ðŸ˜
You know what the main problem with Pixel phones is? They age poorly. Compare a two-year-old Samsung/Apple flagship to a two-year-old Pixel. The Pixel will have the worst battery life, maximum bugs, the worst performance, and the least trade-in value. If you have doubts, just compare an S23 Ultra with a Pixel 8 Pro in 2025. For such a device, the price it commands is honestly atrocious. Also, Pixels having the best camera is a thing of the past, to be honest.
Okay question are you an Apple user or do you use android???
Excuse me, just out of curiosity, what kind of accent does he have?
OVER HYPED………..and over priced.
The real life 40 year old virgin
I've seen a lot of complaints about the battery life and the camera module getting slightly detached.
Has anyone experienced these isuues ?
Thx !
how is the display outside ?
I bought this phone 1 week ago to many to ajust, i still love my old note 20 ultra. To bad battery is out .
I 100% agree with the photos app needs a huge redesign something more user friendly and aesthetically pleasing
I feel shy… or maybe not? My nickname will tell.
Well, yea, kind of… Pixels used to be really good for the camera quality but… this time around, I am very disappointed. The photo quality is bad, I’m shocked at how poor it is compared to my iPhone 16 Pro Max. It lacks detail and sharpness, introduces lens blur and artifacts, and often fails to activate macro mode automatically, forcing me to enable it manually. The color temperature is also completely off, when it should be warm, it turns cold, and when it should be cold, it becomes warm. It feels like everything is messed up, and I’m tired of constantly adjusting the temperature in auto mode when the phone should be handling this properly.
How is it possible that the Pixel phone has fallen so far behind the iPhone 16 Pro Max? It wasn’t always like this. I’m so disappointed. I’m returning my Pixel 9 Pro XL. I really liked the Circle to Search feature, but oh well… I guess I’ll have to stick with the iPhone 16 Pro Max for another year and hope Google finally prioritizes photo quality and consistency in their camera updates.
If you haven't already, go into dev options and turn animations to .5
Makes the phone even snappier.
First impression: Unfortunately, got a Pixel 9 pro XL and the fingerprint sensor is as reliable as the one I had on the Pixel 6. It's unreliable (a hit or miss).
I love the phone, it's really good, but the fingerprint sensor was a downgrade from my Pixel 8 pro.
Getting a replacement, and hopefully I can experience what you're talking about in terms of fingerprint sensor performance.
Update: it was the screen protector all along. I got a Pixel-compatible screen protector, and resubmitted the fonger prints and now works PERFECTLY.
What do you do on your phone that's light usage and only have 20% left 😂😂😂 I'm using the pro, not the xl and with heavy usage I'm at 50% and 23 hours off the charger 😅😅😅 60% brightness and over 4 hours screen on time.
I switched from pixel 6 pro to iPhone 16 pro. Used it without a screen protector for a week and it's riddled with deep scratches everywhere….
Hot garbage of a phone
I love my Google PiXEL 9
8:37 shout out for the nice pics in Albania/Tirana, I've been a long time subscriber and wasn't expecting that 😂
Big camera cut out!! Really, this is what you could come up with?
I like the bigger bezels as it's harder to accidentally touch the screen when i don't intend to.
3:16 Nope, the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is pretty shit when you put a glass protector on the screen. Whether it's a cheap guard from Taobao or the expensive Prism 2.0 tempered glass protector from Dbrand, the fingerprint sensor has been the most frustrating thing about using the Pixel Pro 9 XL for me so far. I miss the flawless biometric sensor of my old Pixel 4a on the back of the phone.
Android 16 must introduce quick panel redesign
