Xiaomi is showing off its Modular Optical System concept phone that has a 100MP snap-on magnetic camera. The coolest bit isn’t the camera though, it’s Xiaomi’s proprietary LaserLink technology. Check out the video for more details on the concept phone and technology!

  1. I bought a Xiaomi redmi note 13 pro plus back in august, i used to have Huawei/honor before android was removed so i had to go to Samsung but hands dowm this Xiaomi is one of the best phones ive had, better than Samsung by miles

  2. Now this is practical innovation. The only concern would be the magnetic pins they have and how they will fare in water damage. And obviously the battery life it'll be nice at the soda camera handle that has battery on it so you don't drain your internal battery too much

  3. People here comparing this with Sony QX1 missing one important point, QX1 was itself a complete camera without screen which you were able to connect to phone or some other sony screen solutions. And all image processing shooting etc was happening in the qx1 and it was just sending the processed image to phone.
But in Xiaomi solution, this is just a lens and sensor this sending raw data to phone and image processing happens in the phone.
Imagine it like with current soc its only able to do 4k 60fps, but with next generation phones and soc it can gain 4k 120fps and many other specs. Because its just a sensor and lens and data process happening in the phone itself.
I am pretty impressed by the idea. Cool.

  4. See! Samsung should be copying from Xiaomi instead of Apple … this system is what innovates the "Magsafe" tech into something more viable/customizable and leads to even more possibilities that go beyond what the smartphone hardware s capable of doing.
