  1. Quick note regarding affiliate links—many VPN providers do offer those programs, but that doesn't mean all YouTubers who accept sponsorships participate in the programs.

I have accepted sponsorships from Surfshark in the past (I use them mainly to bypass idiotic blackout restrictions for sportsball games), but I don't participate in their referral program because IMO that creates the conflict of interest that causes a greater loss of objectivity.

A paid sponsorship is a one-time deal for a video, and I have one or two per month, with no ongoing contracts, but an affiliate program creates perverse incentives IMO.

All that said, accepting any paid sponsorships also taints opinions, no matter how pure the 'influencer', so that's why the FCC has pretty strict guidelines on disclosure… which many (most?) don't even follow 😛

  2. Holy shit I can’t believe NordVPN went from reputable VPN to now corporate garbage. I’m glad I switch to ProtonVPN. Is there any more countries that you can be trusted more than Switzerland? Nope. I know Japan is known for most honest and polite people and highest quality products but when it comes to online privacy while better than America they still cooperate with US and watch people.

  3. I don't worry about governments spying on me because I literally cant do anything about it unless I throw my PC into the fireplace and refuse any kind of digital life. I use Nord to keep my ISP and any potential "everyday" onlookers away from my basic data. Any VPN would work for that. If I'm worried about getting caught in some kind of international espionage scheme, I would say "just don't do that". For everyday fat guy on the couch privacy, literally any VPN would work. And of course I run one on my phone and laptop when out of the house again, just for the basic protections they offer. The reality is, if you're signed in to ANYTHING while using a VPN, the VPN is just slowing you down and offering nothing in the way of privacy from the big guys.

  4. Respectable list! If you're a targeted person though you should never use a self hosted version of wireguard, in this situation 3rd party VPN's would be S tier. Ideally something in a country with strong privacy protection laws.

  5. Most trustworthy most based VPN reviewer on the net, all these tier list VPN channels putting NORD VPN and Surfshark at the top for “Super” because they pay out the most 🤣 what a joke
