Even more elite : self-host FreshRSS at home, configure it to fetch feeds through a proxy or tor depending on the feed.
Feedbro extension
Yes, Obsidian! Maybe that's how I originally found you? Thanks again for good ideas.
With all due respect , there is an AI product to be made here.. ASAP
Which RSS feed plugin are you using. Did a search on community plugins and got like 3 or 4 results.
"I browse the internet DIFFERENTLY. That MAKES ME ELITE! " Yeah right. All that means is you know different minutia than I know.
I currently use Akregator, which is KDE's RSS reader. I'm certainly gonna have to check out Morss, as there are some feeds I subscribe to that only provide the first paragraph or two… so ta for that! ðŸ‘🙂
It also helps with the thumbnail clickbait.
My favorite news sites don't have RSS feeds. So this isn't possible. Reddit charges money for their API now. So that isn't possible. RSS is a dying medium anyway. Why would you want to use that?
I feel too superior atm
This is confusing. I need a tutorial on how the heck to use this. Im a noob.
I used to use an rss reader. Then Twitter came along and I mistakenly started using it as a replacement for the RSS feed I had been using. Then I dumped Twitter because it became just noise. But I lost my RSS feeds so thanks for this useful video.
I used feedly
I don't mind opening the home page of YT as sometimes, something pops up that I might be interested in other than what I'm subscribed to. Other than that, once I pick something to watch the side bar sometimes comes up with something interesting too if I scroll past the "what we're pushing today" LOL
Yeah you can do RSS feeds, but I really don't have enough time in the day to be bothered following too much stuff.
Fluent reader is also a good option.
When I went to check out phoronix, I was bombarded with ads….Toradex, Pinnacol, Scott, and much much more. WTF.
copy luke smith much? lol im sorry i just had to say it.
Haven't used RSS for years… your video has made me think perhaps it's time to look into RSS again!
The more propaganda you take in the more balanced of an opinion you'll have? LOLOL! Opinions don't matter by the way.
I tend to use feedly, used to host my own RSS tool at home.
Aaron Scwartz creator of RSS and co-founder of reddit (before it went private)
Thank you.
NewsBoat 😀
Good video. Now do one video about FreshRSS.
Hello linux users! Is there any way to keep my rtx 2070 super on performance lvel 0 or 1 when im browsing the internet? Im loving the ubuntu so much but my PC turns into a flying jet whenever i launch web browser or watch some video on YT/twitch stream. It never been so loud when i was using windows and playing games on it. I would love too go full linux (now i dual boot) with this problem fixed but i really cant do much with such a noise. 🙁
Great video. I will certainly try this out. I used to love RSS. Hopefully this works well, so I can dust off my RSS reader.
My favorite RSS reader? Well, I will try out some AppImages and see what I like to install longterm.
Thx Chris!
This reminded me how much I missed RSS feeds. My issues with it just slowly became compounding on along with me just not organizing it and not finding a good consistent way to view them with a lot of the ones I followed being very low effort either links or entirely unformatted pages coming in that sometimes worked with my feed, sometimes didn't so a lot of times I just had to go to the site and would look through there myself by hand anyways so lost its point over time for me.
Obsidian is something I want to pick up to try and get used to and sort of start from scratch. Be a good time to try and rebuild the RSS library too and see if I can get back into it.
I RSS'd youtube stuff exactly for that reason, works well, this I how I reached this videos, works better tan youtube notifications I guess!
Most of "the news" is fake propaganda. It's better to avoid it all and only watch, play, or read things of actual value.
QuitRSS is my reader. @Chris Titus Tech it's not just news but even techie blogs. Nice highlight you could self host your own "full text" RSS feeds on your own domain.
Nice video thanks Chris! Do you use any calendar apps in linux? What are your preferred choices?
thank you algorithm for suggesting me this video
can i ask how did you got the rss for a youtube channel ?
Can you do a video about your desktop environment? I like the terminal you use and i'm curious about how the top bar works.
The colours don't look very accessible on that interface. Especially ones that are read.
So, do you somehow use morss in obsidian? This is all new to me, but looks very helpful. I installed obsidian, got a couple rss feeds, love it, but would like all the article not the short pieces.
Okay, I figured it out, thank you!
The real nerds will want to use newsboat from the terminal. Really neat piece of software. It is dead simple to write your own script where you have full control over where all your bookmarks get stored. Also supports vim keys with som light customization. Big thumbs up to the devs.
Dear friend, some of us, like myself, are kind of old puns trying to learn stuff. We love your ideas and would like to try. This thing is amazing but although I could install the plugin I have no clue on how to make it work, insert feeds and read.. Maybe you could, eventually, create an old puns RSSFeed on obsidian tutorial to allow us to create the same in our computers. Thank you for everything i´ve been learning from you.
lost me at The Verge…. that's not a tech site, lol, its fiction based on tech
Why Fox "News" as an example even? Shite!
Hi, Chris, can you make a video for google serviceless chromium browser?
YouTube has removed the subscription rss feed is the an easy way to get all my subbed channels and will update if I add new ones?
Newsboat <3
I dropped RSS eons ago – not after Google dismally dropped Reader, but when Quiterss later went by the wayside too. It's all rehash anyway, case in point…
I rarely use it and have too little different things to be worth it imo.
But if I do, it's Alligator.
TLDW; Use RSS feeds.
The play station portable has rss support
Chris is getting closer to Luke Smith mentality here and I love it.
I haven't used RSS in years. Once the sales and marketing people discovered it, it went to total hell.
I think it's cool Chris, but… idk I like the default site experience… well okay, without the ads, but be able to immerse myself on one of those sites is kinda the way to go for me. This is very useful to not loose focus while having some fun tho.
