Life is not fair. You do what you must. End of story
I started watching because of the tractor restorations. I live on a farm that my great grandparents bought at the end of the Civil War and I lived my whole life here. I watch your videos over coffee and I love seeing the different ways you go about farming and I love the maintenance/restorations you do with the equipment. Yes Youtube viewers can be petty and hurtful but the majority of us are with you. I can tell that you and your family are happy. ONLY thing that matters in this life.
My uncle who acts like he knows everything was a farmer and in the end he ended up with practically nothing yet the kid used to bring us our soda to put under the cows is not a multimillionaire. Thing that I’ve learned about my 35 years working around in the military in the military, in the simple fact the same thing the biggest point is that you make a decision to move forward on something done. That’s the secret. It’s not the procrastinators. It’s not the super positive people. The people act something. Don’t let fear and unknown stop you from something. It’s all about doing something. Some dude can mention how to do a field when he might’ve done it 1000 times like that because that’s where his parents taught the people next-door completely different and they actually end up doing it better but never learn because they never want to learn
Pete what you do is NOT for me, truly I do not have the stomach for, with that said what you do, what you promote is diametrically opposed to my 82 years of life. I have enjoyed learning yes learning what goes on before my food gets to the grocery store. The hay and its Mae up, the gathering of the hay, the importance of hay for the animals, the compost pile, the chickens laying eggs, I knew chickens layed eggs just how and why I did not know, examples. Please keep teaching us city folk we will figure it out soon enough. Great Tag Team. You go girl
That old fence electrification trick never gets old. 🙂 Thank you for sharing your day with us, I personally look forward to your content and always appreciate your insight and knowledge – yes, it is meaningful.
Pete, Hi, my name is Jim. I am 8o and a retired grandpa / husband of 57 yrs. When I found your channel It took me back to my youth, dairy chores, bailing hay and the like. Well, I enjoy your content and your friendly, teaching demeanor . You are a positive voice on a clamoring medium. By the way, I always enjoy corny one liner jokes. Know this , you are thought well of by many. I look forward to watching you and Hillary for many moons , Hang in there , We need You .
Karens who do not like negative comments should not be YouTube creators.
Pete you are the best! I kind of fell off in watching all your videos a while back and am enjoying catching up. I believe I was a very early subscriber and I have always liked the Philosophical videos the best. I am glad you realize how much you mean to people.
Pete your and inspiration, I was a tobacco farmer for 25 years and I love working tractors, thanks for your wisdom, in farming,
I love your channel. I see how my wife grew up. A cattle farm in the Midwest for her. I lived there for a few years while in school. I hope to be move back and start a beef operation. And, I have been vegan all this time but still feel like a family farm is vital for our country. Diet should be an informed choice. I have no problem raising beef because some will need to eat it.
This just a learning person I just want to thank you for it to the peace and comfort. I am now learning to be more patient in the things I do. Thank you again I like the fact that I am learning
You are a awesome farmer, and person, God Bless ðŸ™ðŸ‘
keep doing exactly the same format. i enjoy the Pete and Hilary ways of farming so much…
I'm a city man , but still wish to work on a farm again. even tho my body doesn't…
Manny Blessings for you and your families……
I’m building my small farm. Full time demanding job limits my time but I am lucky enough to live on the farmstead. Your clips are inspiring and educational. Thank you so much
Hi Pete. I love watching your videos.
Yup farming is like the scene in star wars where Yoda tells Luke. Do or do not there is no try.
Pete,in the last few minutes of your video, you have some of the same problems that other tubbers have when people seam to know that what you know i am new to Just a Few Acers to me you teach, explain why you do things the way you do them, you would not be successful as you are or you would not be able to do what you do.I say keep up the good work do not sweat the na- sayers sometimes I have a little trouble in expressing what I say unless I am talking directing to a person I do not like typing for this reason keep up the very good work,
Pete , as a Wisconsin raised small dairy farm kid , who left to join the military . Then after discharge did an apprenticeship to be a linemen for a utility. Retired now but your your videos bring me so much comfort and nostalgia to the days I had on our farm . I see know that my father followed a lot of your farm practices. I know see you both were always practicing good farm practices for the land and the animals we cared for.
Pete ,look
Pete. You bring me and the majority of us a great meaning of your life and the way you live it. It's a sense of peace and maturity and understanding of life's lessons and enjoying every minute. Thank you. And you are very wise and inspiring my friend. Much LOVE from me and my family from sunny south Florida.
Great message, love your mesage.😅😅😅😅
Pete if people have a problem with you or your channel then they sir are the problem! Whether it’s talking about the animals, the pastures, the tractors or just life in general you sir are spot on! I find your videos not only extremely informative but very relaxing. You just be you. The rest is nothing more than a dried up cow patty! And I’m not a farmer! God bless!
Pete, you and Hilary are relatively new in my life and I look forward to sitting and absorbing your wisdom (yes, you are wise!) and learning from your successes and failures.
I grew up in Seattle, but married a Vermonter and we raised our kids there. I lived there for 23 years and bred Silver Grey Dorking chickens for several years until entering graduate school (I'm a nurse). I always wanted more than just chickens and had several friends who raised various livestock, so had the opportunity to be exposed to their care and husbandry.
When I got divorced in 2020, I moved back to Seattle and was just so unhappy in the city. And then when the political climate in the US began to turn on women, I made the decision to move to New Zealand.
Now here I am in the middle of the north island and it is just like Vermont, which absolutely fills my heart because I missed it so much after I left. And then a wonderful thing happened to me last year: I met my partner, Rod. He grew up on a dairy farm, but went into construction and after selling his company, he went to work for a farm contractor. He is a master welder and mechanical engineer for them, as well as driving trucks to deliver silage and maize. Separately, we had goals to buy property and build a small house. He planned to build a shed for his "toys" (boat and motorcycles) and I planned to build sheds for animals. I actually own two cows and their 2 heifers, believe it or not! LOL They are all in calf now and I will be keeping one of the yearlings and selling the other 3 (they are Jerseys). They all live on a dairy farm nearby. I have helped out on that farm and am so looking forward to having my girl with me. 😊
After comparing our goals and discovering how similar they are, Rod and I decided to do it together, so hopefully by this time next year, we will be in the process of building.
I want to milk my cow for us, not to sell milk. I love making cheese, butter, etc. I want chickens again. I also want to raise turkeys just for us because kiwis don't eat turkey, so finding it is hard. I'd like a couple goats for pets and milk, and maybe to raise a couple pigs every year for our freezer and to share. I intend to raise a handful of Dexter cattle for meat, too, thanks to you, and have found the local breeders association. I'm going to try AI and see how that goes, but if I have the same trouble as you, it looks like I can rent a stud.
I grow veggies and have a rose problem, so I will have the garden of my dreams wherever Rod and I wind up. And bees. I want to have bees.
What I'm trying to say is that, at 55, I am finally realizing my dreams. I want to have our own little homestead to raise food not to sell, but to sustain us, and I also want the little farm to feed my heart, which has longed for this for decades. Finding you has inspired me and given me hope that I can do this!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
I enjoy the channel Pete good job Rod
