This breaks down all the simple tasks that Linus and Luke did in Linux. I also show more advanced ways to complete the tasks faster to make you a better user!

It should be pointed out that I have been a lifelong Windows user. I only started using Linux desktop in 2018 as a response to a snarky youtube comment when I started. If you want to see the worst video series on youtube here was my first 30 days on Linux… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Qrg_QIwxxc&list=PLc7fktTRMBozmc1_9kEmgxYo0jIdsiz7w
WARNING: This was shot on a webcam with ZERO audio/video skills as I just started uploading to YouTube. I was learning Linux Desktop the same time I was learning YouTube…

I would install adobe extension on chrome then default all my pdfs to open in that extension in chrome as a workaround
I'm a Linux beginner and I like Dolphin it's pretty easy to use for me but it's just my personal take from daily driving Nobara for a few months now
opens nautilus

open desktop and try the shortcut a few times, nautilus said how many times i opened the shortcut folder
deletes it and goes back, doesn't seem to be remover
refresh, nautilus crashes…
linux, the elitshit way of doing thing
The truth .. very little on Linux is easy. There is a reason why people use Windows, disregarding Microsoft being douche. Smarter not harder is the motto.
Ah yes the classic "just don't use that very useful piece of hardware" and the "don't use the most widely used brand of GPUs". So user friendly
What kinda server requires the admin to install fonts.
Can you get ALL the fonts available in Windows and Mac – with Linux?
My #1 favorite is PCManFM. My #2 favorite is Thunar.
Saw you in a supercut video on this and came here to see the full version. Learned a lot.
For Pdf sign you can use fire fox
I have some xdotool command bound to win+shift+s to do a screen select section grab to clipboard just like windows has now. Literally fantastic
This was hysterical to watch. You're clearly well versed in Linux, and are comfortable in the Terminal, but man as a person who wants to get into Linux, this just seems messy. It reminds me of that "TICK" meme on how to draw The Tick (superhero), Step one: Draw an oval with a line through it, Step Two: Draw the tick holding said oval. It really is that simple.
Or… you could use Windows until Linux uses real words that resemble what you're doing. Just saying; I've been trying different Linux distros since the '90's I am so amazed by how unfrindly the OS and Linux community remains after 30 years. I liked Corell Linux but they died.
new users these days are used to apps. mostly on their phones. they dont know what happens at the backend. just click download and the app works. they are expecting that also on smart tv's, computers ect. linux is still to difficult if you look at windows and macos. at least for the normal home user. it is all made easy. most problems we have are more advandce task (mostly) my wife and daughter just use their computers for school and work. and some light gaming(daughter at least with sims 4) they dont adjust settings or use their operating system fully.
so for those kind of people linux is bassicly hell. they dont know it cant find anything and dont uderstand what to do. that is what this challenge is about. the casual computer user just wants to click a button and then stuff works. for example why isnt the full pipe line already default if it makes things better. and why is the save button not just showing save but save to …… that makes it scary for a normal pc user to do something they think they gonna break stuff and are already glad the found that screen in the first place. probably after a half our search on google. and probably at luck it helped anyway. because they would search something like nvidia driver settings linux. well good luck with that and aal the distro's wich is already a problem. windows is easy just get windows 10 or 11. because that is what you can easily download from the site. mac is even easier it can only update to newer versions( at least in the eyes of a casual user). with linux they get to many choices(choices are good dont get me wrong) and they get overwhelmed and need those lists for themselkfs with their demands and what should fit them. and then they instal and need to install more before even using the damn thing. this challenge from ltt showed what the difficultly is with linux and if linux wants more users they distro's need to work on that. and shouldnt it be easy? just make a android for pc's(lol good luck)
@ChrisTitusTech Could you please explain, how you mount your Networkshares @Timestamp 12:19
I have tried to find a video (from you) about it, but sadly failed. I just found the Video about mounting a drive.
Thanks a lot for your help.
You can make a video recommending good programs to use for common use cases like file browser, image viewer, video player, music player, calculator, screenshot taker, etc.
There are certain applications that I like on Windows [eg. Q-Dir, MusicBee] that I do not think will be matched by any on Linux.
Ive recently got into Pop_OS from Windows for the first time, and I can't go back to using windows now, I just really like Linux much more, I have still got Windows on another drive, so if i ever need to use it for some reason, I just reboot and change the boot order.
If I have to digitally sign a PDF, I just pull it up on my S22 ultra. All I have to do is pull out my pen and sign. Android is based on a Linux kernel, so it technically would complete the challenge.
11:10 When I saw that IP address, there was an instant "Nice!" sound in my head, ngl.
Linux is just a waste of time. So many things you can do with the time not spent on Linux BS.

From the thumbnail I thought this was an actual collab video with LTT 😆😅
you said doo doo
Linux SUCKS
Everything should be easy to do outside the terminal, otherwise i see no point to windows users to use linux
You’re my favorite NON-BIASED youtuber for this type of stuff lol. Glad I found you ðŸ˜
Most people barely understand Windows much less Linux, but if you take the time to show the basics they will probably come around! And this Linus, most people don't carry around his expensive equipment, nor use it, nor care! Anybody can Troll his views as easily as he trolls others! Let him stay with his toys and we all can go back to what we respect and appreciate, pay no attention to ignoramus jerks!
Chris: "This is how I would do it.'
Everyone else: "Let me guess, it's the command line!"
Please not that putting fonts in ~/.fonts/ is deprecated. Using ~/.local/share/fonts/ is recommended instead.
CTT Vs LTT.
FIGHT!
China
you can't really expect new users to jump on CLI. Most normal users will want to use the GUI for everything. I personally use both, but I've been messing with Linux on and off for more than a decade, so I was around, when most things didn't work well in my DE of choice (KDE)
You know opening pdfs in firefox is much better than okular in some cases for linux 😂.
scanning is not really an issue these days since you can take a picture from phone and send it to computer instead of looking for a MFP.
As a former Microsoft nut, my transfer to Linux went smooth as butter.
ShareX is terrible.
Win+Shift+S is far better.
Gives you region select, goes straight into your clipboard. Can paste directly into discord, teams, word docs, etc
sudo apt-get install update
sudo apt-get install fire*
