Following his historic account of the civilian toll in Mariupol, Mstyslav Chernov turns his lens towards Ukrainian soldiers — who they are, where they came from, and the impossible decisions they face in the trenches as they fight for every inch of their land.
Amid a failing counteroffensive in 2023, Chernov and his AP colleague Alex Babenko follow a Ukrainian brigade battling through approximately one mile of a heavily fortified forest on their mission to liberate the Russian-occupied village of Andriivka. Weaving together original footage, intensive Ukrainian Army bodycam video and powerful moments of reflection, 2000 METERS TO ANDRIIVKA reveals with haunting intimacy, the farther the soldiers advance through their destroyed homeland, the more they realize that, for them, this war may never end.
The documentary premieres in select theaters this summer.

Watched this in theaters, and safe to say it was so disturbing seeing people getting killed in real time, especially the scene where Gagarin dies or when Fedya starts shooting at fleeing Russians. The movie doesn’t make you forget that this completely and utterly real
i fought in the treeline just south of andriivka on my first mission and on my second pushed through andriivka further east to assault a russian treeline where me and my platoon got hit hard. weird seeing a movie about a place i fought. being a foreign legion soldier from canada.

This is the great work capturing the moment of hard work of Ukrainian people fighting for their home land, the land they love. What this doc and if you are not from Ukraine, just put a name of the city where you grew up instead of Andriivka, then you will understand that Ukrainians can not abandon it and give up to a Russian invaders. Great thanks to AFU. Great thanks to Msyslav Chernov and his crew for making this work.

I was here in the muddy winter, evacuating a dead body at night time under precise and heavy enemy(russian) fire…the very sticky and muddy terrain is super difficult to walk, it was cold, heavy wind blow, raining in winter, a pool of mud water could reach up our waist level…our team was forced to walk 7km with injuries from sharpnel, tourniqueted legs to the evacuation point.
On the zero line, bodies were seen, most of the death was killed by precise artillery hit from the russian, they will laying there like sleeping in the cold dark moonless winter rain.
It was my first mission with brave warrior.
I wish the war would end and the people who supported the invasion war will pay for the price.
All to determine which language goes on the road signs. Because that is all the difference the outcome means to 99.999 percent of the population. And the elite 0.001 percent are jet set global travelers anyway with multiple passports and offshore bank accounts, so they don't care either. It is all about enriching themselves off of the immediate war spending. No one really cares about the actual lines on the map these peasant men are being forced to kill, maim, die, and suffer permanent disfigurement and disability for.
Sad sad story. Dumb ukroNazis zombified, armed by insidious sionist West and thus forced to go killing their compatriots, ruin their own country. What a "glooooory"!
Why would you make a heart wrenching documentary during a pivotal period in public opinion/outreach for the conflict then make it impossible to find/watch? Oh yeah, money. Make this whole documentary public on Youtube if you want to make a difference. If I, someone who is actively seeking out how to watch this can't find it, then someone who frankly doesnt care about the conflict sure as hell isn't going to be able to find it.
