  1. We used to grow a few pigs for our own use. We butchered them ourselves and we had our own smoke house. My uncle always liked it after we butchered the pigs because it was one less chore to do. We raise cattle and wheat. We used to raise oats and barley for feed but we went back to selling our calves in October so no need for feed grains anymore.

  2. Hey Pete, I really enjoy your videos… Just recently they've started popping up in my YouTube feed, I had never heard of you nor did I know where you are located. The first video I saw was the one where your neighbor (Adam Buck) helped you go pick up a tractor, I thought to myself "I used to have a neighbor named Adam Buck" then I saw the NY tag on the vehicle and the landscape looked right. So I had to look you up and sure enough. I grew up 8 miles dew east of you, on Salt Road. (Romasoda Farm) it's now owned by the Kelly's
Small world. Needless to say, your regional phrases and foods are not lost on me. 😂

  3. Hey Pete. Yay….it's not 136 degrees celcius. I have a hard time figuring out the fahrenheit system. So, I understand your trouble with the celcius system. I love the names you give your animals.

  4. I live in western New York and am starting my little homestead journey. Been wanting to put in hand pump wells around the property. Did you hand dig the wells yourself? Or were they already there?

  5. Hi Pete, thanks for this great informative video. I am in agreement with you on your new pure bred pig 🐷 facility. It will take you to the top of the piglet provider pile. But it is easy for me to say because it’s not my money 💰 or time. Good luck on this.

  6. I know you don't have the room but my neighbor raises hogs and cattle and all the manure goes into a giant tank. In the tank methane builds up and is stored and powers a generator that feeds all his barns. The liquid out of the tank is sprayed on his fields and the solids are processed into pellets and bagged and sold as fertilizer. It took his a couple of years to get the parts and build everything but his farm is almost completely off-grid now.
