Big Pig Problems

Here is our big pig problem. It is a big pig problem because it has to do with the big pigs, and it’s a big, pig, problem. But it applies to all the pigs. Got that?

  1. My two most important tools I have are a shovel and a wheelbarrow. I do 70% of my work with them. My shovel is Republican, my wheelbarrow is Democrat and I'm an Independent. We work well together. 😂

  2. One of the main things I've noticed about this channel is the dearth of negative comments. I put that down to you, Pete and Hillary, and your family. I've unsubscribed to a few farm channels recently because of the negativity in their comments sections (and a couple of them suddenly seem concentrated on buying the wrong shade of green and acquiring new tractors with air conditioned cabs, software, etc). Who could possibly be negative about Just a Few Acres? Only people who like to cause division and chaos. Trolls. And there seem to be zero trolls here. By the way, I refuse to enter shopping malls. They're depressing reminders of how franchise capitalism has taken control of formerly local businesses. At my age, I find that my family cuts me a good bit of slack when it comes to my grumpy refusal to act like I approve of places that poured concrete parking lots and built tasteless houses over perfectly good farmland. Just a Few Acres celebrates the same things we–your viewers–value. ~~Jeff in CT

  3. I i'm glad to see you wearing a mask. Don't have lots of nasty diseases so some chicken. I have something similar to macular degeneration that they think was caused by chicken fungus. I raise chickens that all right many years back. I lived in Massachusetts, not near Ohio where,Two of my three brothers have the similar condition. Good luck and stay as healthy as you can.

  4. I have a farm outside of Rochester. I love watching you because our weather is the same. You have taught me so much and given me so much confidence to raise my livestock! Your love and compassion for your animals is so obvious with how they respond to you! I’ll be making a trip to the Ithaca market this summer to thank you in person!! Happy farming- the warmth can come any day now!!

  5. I grew up in east Tennesee & we had beautiful fall colors ..
Some yrs the colors were more vibrant & deep …
I read that it is directly related to the amount of moisture when the sap starts to run in the spring ..
We had several variety's of maple tree's & they were the most colorful…
It was my favorite time of year except spring.
Both seasons meant big change ..
The smells in the forests in fall are lovely & in spring everything bloomed ..

  6. I worked for a few farmers over the years doing hay and shit haulage a few of the farmers i worked for let the old cows or other old animals live out their last days of their lives on the farm

  7. I am so grateful that you share on utube. You stated we need more people like a couple of other channels you mentioned on a video. I wholeheartedly agree with that. I also very much include you as a person we need more of in this world. Thank you for sharing common sense with us.

  8. At fourteen I worked on a farm one summer. My dad told me that as long as the farm couple was at work, I was to help them. They got a lot of my energy, but not my intelligence. But I learned to work.

  9. As i have told you in yhe past, your day chores reminds me of my summer at my mom parents farm life. Her dad would always give me some of his pocket change. In the late 60's it was intenchional the used coin purces. They were second generation polish immeragrents, came to live the dream of a better life. Honest hard working country people who lost during the depresion (two buisness), suvervived and trived. Her dad loved his farmal C , he once told it was the best thing to happen to him, he was not going to have endure"anymore mule farts"! So if someone on her is stepping on your toes think of trying to put in "a crop" behind one of those beast!, they are most likly have the same mine set as his mules, (work, eat ect. you get the idea). Just to let you know I'm pulling far you. You would be misted.

  10. Hi Pete, I discovered your channel this past weekend and it became my binge-watching quite quickly. I love what you are doing and please don't let anyone ever discourage or distract you from the wonderful content that you are providing. I grew up on and still live on a farm, but I work in another field and don't actively farm. I do enjoy seeing you do the work you do, interact with the animals and just being an all-around likable fella. I really enjoy your connection and empathy toward the animals. Keep up the great work!!

  11. Irish city slicker , enjoying your show , had 200 chickens back in the 70's . Keep the faith your doing a great job and here's to the next 27 years, Best regards to you both, from John in Cork City Ireland.

  12. Hey Pete!!! You and I may never agree on everything in this world …. BUT you will always be my farming brother. A man who I deeply respect for having the courage to live his life in a for filling and loving way!

  13. Wise words Pete. I tend to be a pessimist, but I fight hard against it and try to be positive. I found that stopping watching the news helped me!

  14. Pete, Happy Belated Anniversary. I agree with what you said about social media, If you can't say something nice about some one, don't say any thing at all. Love you out look on life. don't ever change, your videos always make my day. Even your jokes!. HA HA. Have a great day.

  15. Happy Anniversary Pet and Hillary . Just feel sorry for the naysayers, they are not as nice as you, you should be proud of your self. I like your channel for who you are and your bad jokes, they make my day. Thank you
