Finishing the Engine Rebuild | Farmall Super C Restoration Episode

I’m finishing the engine today! This episode includes installing the flywheel and a new clutch, fitting the engine back on the tractor, installing the head gasket and cylinder head, assembling the rocker arms and push rods on the head, adjusting the valve lash at the rocker arms, and installing the valve cover.

  1. ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

  2. When you were speaking about the clutch finger movement being engaged / disengaged, reminded me of the misnomer of calling that thing that you depress with your foot the "clutch" pedal. The verb "clutch" is the engagement. Technically speaking, depressing the pedal is de-clutching it. Have fun with that one some day. Great videos, and I can relate to the laid back attitude.

  3. I think that the arguments about whether you should or shouldn't oil a bolt you are torquing arise from more modern torque-to-yield solutions.

Different engine manufacturers have different opinions about whether or not their TTY bolts should be oiled or not and it really matters in those applications because the oil can change the actual torque applied, which in turn matters because the point of Torque-To-Yield is that you torque the bolt until its yield strength (right before it fails).

  4. I’m impressed that you somehow keep you hands and shirt clean. My kids used to get a photo of me with my Hitler mustache caused by touching my greasy fingers to the area just under my nose. Beautiful work!

  5. Pete you might be aware but the head bolts used on modern engines are stretch bolts that are stretched by a predetermined amount by the angle in degree's the bolt is turned and thread pitch. After the bolt has been stretched you can't guarantee it will stretch correctly the second time so must be replaced. The advantage of these bolts is they do not need retorqueing after running in, any compression of the gasket is taken up by the stretch in the bolts.

  6. Nice to meet you yesterday Pete in person at the Ithaca's Farmers Market. My wife and I were visiting the Finger Lakes region the last few days with another couple for the wineries and because of your video's on the market made a point to visit the market. It will definately be on our list to visit again in other trips to the region. Doing a great job. Keep up the inspirational work.

  7. As a professional diesel mechanic. I love watching you work. You’re right we all have our opinions about how stuff is supposed to be done. Keep doing wonderful work!!
