Well, you are the ones who said you will watch anything so let’s test that theory shall we. Perhaps the lamest video to date. Swapping out both of the batteries in a 2020 Jeep Compass with the big 2.4L.
-Enjoy!

Somebody please explain the advantages of these dual battery systems. I took a quick look online and of course I have two pages of AI bullshit.
Replacing the cabin air filter on these things is just as tideous. I'm convinced Fiat designed these things to piss people off on purpose.
Chrysler engineers need a pay cut that's ridiculous
Working on batteries without safety glasses 🤓 is not smart!
Bravo ðŸ‘
Well🤔 I just found out today, changing a battery is no longer a simple task.
Why the two batteries?
Remember the days when after changing the battery the only reprogramming you to do was the radio stations?
I just had to change these out in my wife’s car, you saved me a whole bunch of money my guy!
Always wondered what “donggers†were. Thanks for the info.
Longest battery installation Ive done at the auto parts store was a newer Buick Envision. 1 hour 15 mins.
And the customer didnt understand why it took so long.
Until they looked under the hood and couldnt even see the battery buried under the fuse box/brackets and harnesses that laid over the battery in its stupid plastic case.
ill never buy one of those cars what piece of junk @@@!!
We'd even watch you watching Scotty Kilmer
ðŸ‘
had to do this a few months ago wish i had this video when doing it.. what a pita hands need to be smaller and smaller to work on these things.. WHERES THE JEEP WJ? when jeeps were jeeps.
no wonder it cost 75$ to replace a battery
Pro tip on the compasses, smack the coolant reservoir to the right and it'll become loose and can move it out of you're way
Kinda an unrelated question. I have a 2003 wrangler 4.0 with the nv3550. Is it "safe" to bump start it with a dead battery? Will it screw up the computer?
Meow 🤣
Saludos Eric ðŸ‘
I watch stuff like this to continually remind me to not buy any Fiat/Stellantis abomination.
Is there a way to get rid of the start/stop system. What a waste of money who came up with that rediculous idea ?
Eric, it has a lot to do with like minded mechanics taking solace in watching soneone do it right. Tip top 👌
Those NAP'er Legend batteries are Exide, correct? I prefer Johnson Control or East Penn batteries. Here in NY (Long Island) I get no less than 6 years out of a battery.
And I thought Corvette C4 batteries were a PITA!!!!
10:20 I use Fluid Film
As someone who works in a battery workshop here in Australia, some manufacturers are a real challenge to change out the batteries. They give you zero room to move, sit everything possible on top of the battery, and some vehicles inbed the battery so deep in the engine bay you have to remove the wiper cowling, wipers etc.
It's a real piss pot when we don't have specialised tools either. Just makes our life a bit more challenging 😂.
106k views. Proves to you we will watch anything from you 😂
Who n I ew. Mr O, we will. Watch anything. But two batteries? Still went dead? Just need tnree, yea, three would be much better. Don't ya think?
Am I the only one who misses the sound effects with the film?
Let's just say wonderous engineering, Mojunk
Eric. you may think this was a simple video but to be honest i know of lot of people that has the stop and start system on their vehicles and they have no idea there are two batteries. so this video does a lot of good and as always you did a great job in showing how to change them.
IBS – Idiot Battery system
Is this the person from the post office?
Well, I guess I thought I could watch anything, but I was wrong. I could make it half way through and had to bail. Sorry.
Eric ,what is the small battery used for in the jeep..
The auto parts stores will not touch the batteries with the terminal/fuse block on top like that. Something about liability with them possibly breaking it.
I got fully "charged" up about that fix. Another good fix.
Where is the lawn mower guy ? LOL ðŸ‘
Start/Stop- what colossal fleece job. During the Obama save of the domestic auto industry, the manufacturers were throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks with fuel saving ideas. It was hereby blessed by the great knowers of all possible knowledge that great money sums would be shifted in the form of loans to these manufactures IF- they produced various magical fuel saving devices that would "green " these turd cars up. Thus the Start /Stop was born.
In reality- it is mostly a fuel INCREASE as the added weight and complexity as well as cost to the sticker price all act to offset any real "savings". Lets not forget about maintenance and starters being killed. Most manufactures do not use dual batteries using a a DC/DC converter instead. What a shit show.
09:35 This was useful to watch as I'll be doing something similar, but I'd like to clarify if I can drop the nut before seating the battery, or is it essential to seat the battery and then drop the nut?
I enjoy your videos. I don't like these stop/start systems. I live in Germany (retired USAF and German truck driver) and I only buy used cars. I like to stick the largest battery that will fit into my cars. For the last 20 years, we have owned Opels, and they have one-size-fits-all battery boxes. The battery depends on the size of the motor or if it's a diesel or not. I can check online for the Bosch battery made for the larger engine of my application and install it. I've been told no more than 10%, but I think they are full of it. Our cars always start, and over the last 25 years, I've had one alternator go out. Our Opels have the GM ECO motors you work on from time to time. I stay away from the turbos, leaving me plenty of beer money every month.
Could you tell Wes that we watch you even when you change a battery (two in that case) on a non crusty car.
I would think the big battery is to crank the engine in start stop situations. and the little one for ancillaries, not the other way around.
