6. I’ve done brake jobs on my 4runners, and the caliper bolts you removed with your impact wrench are nearly impossible to remove with a ratchet or short breaker bar. They are locktited and a bear to break loose. But if you have a powerful 1/2 inch drive air impact or battery powered unit it’s not a problem.

7. I have never managed to get any mounting brackets out without heat on the bolts. I have no idea how you manage to do it without much difficulty and yes I have a good air compressor and impacts that I always try first.

23. Owner of the 4 Runner spends big bucks on a quality vehicle then cheaps out on brake pads and rotors. Hard to believe the thought process or lack of a thought process.

24. So somebody help me out here because something's not clicking with me on this one. They have made it exceptionally easy to just pull the pads out put new pads in. But Pat's slapping is trash or at least the hive always thought that not pretty sure everybody else has. I've done it a time or two but it was yeah I ain't got money for the rotors and the pads are lifetime warranty so I'll get a new set for free and I'll throw new rotors on there but it almost seems pointless to make the pads so easy to yank out cuz even if you're doing a turning of the rotors on the vehicle doesn't that take place in the area where the caliper is? I'm just a shade tree mechanic I take my rotors to shop to have them cut them and I definitely don't have the money for that machine. So is the only benefit to the ease of pulling those pads that it's easier to just do a pad swap on it

32. I agree totally with your rant. I refuse to use the self checkout because I am being a cashier and not getting paid. I always say that if they gave me a discount on my purchases to use the self checkout…..that may "may" change my mind.

33. You had me at self checkout. You were absolutely right about that. HOWEVER the full service gas rant is a no. That phenomenon is strictly an east coast thing. I am old enough to have caught the tail end of the full service era. Which is older than you. It disappeared because automation made that job obsolete. We live in the age of AI, so a lot of that is about to happen. Everyone who decided to hide at home from covid proved to corporate America that ppl aren't necessary for the system to work. Things are quietly changing in our world. Computers don't strike or get tired, or require healthcare packages. It's not better, just unavoidable.
