In this video I have a look at a customer’s 2008 Chevy Silverado, and he says that nothing on his trailer plug is working. He wants to barrow a friends dump trailer but wants to make sure it all works first.

  1. Copperhead road!
    Yes
I prefer a small stainless steel wire brush for those connections.
They're not very durable and they don't last long but get a bunch of them from harbor freight😮

  2. Bought a caravan picked it up with a Hyundia no trouble with the lights, got home used the F100, blinkers going twice the speed, could not work out the trouble, as I only ever worked on direct connection to the light globs to make things work, watching this video opened up a whole new world on connections for trailers, As usual they found out a way to make simple connections that worked for 60 years, and made it more complicated than ever by adding a module and computer, thank you for opening my eyes to updated trailer system, will now have to add more study again at 75 years of age.

  3. I am just a fee minutes into this video and my first thought is…. are all the wires connected to the plug at the back.
Came across one… no wires.. AT ALL….😂😂😂

  4. Hey Eric I am waiting to get into mechanics where do you recommend that I go to start out first I'm pretty good on stuff I just want to get certified and all

  5. I haven't even finished watching the video and i just wanna say thanks for this upload. I work at a RV shop and we gotta deal with this crap all the time but cant get oem diagrams cuz the shop doesnt pay for car ones, only RVs. So gotta figure it out all on your own or rely on co workers' experiences. Btw that IPA tester we do have and it is awesome!
Edit: just finshed and at 13:07 you step on the brakes (Left and right/brake lights) and then you turn the ignition on, (blue brake LEDs) but take your foot off the pedal once you put it into reverse.

  6. In Europe most trailer or caravan (RV) brakes are still the old school auto reversing overrun type. There can be issues with LED trailer lamps where tow car lamp failure detection sometimes doesn't like them.
