In the aftermath of the brutal wars that decimated Yugoslavia in the early 1990s, former Bosnian Serb General Ratko Mladić was accused of genocide and other war crimes — including the massacre of more than 7,000 Muslim men and boys in the town of Srebrenica in July 1995.

In “The Trial of Ratko Mladić,” FRONTLINE producers gained exclusive access to the prosecution and defense teams during Mladić’s trial before the UN’s International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.

The documentary also features interviews with Mladić’s supporters and family members in Bosnia and offers harrowing accounts from some of his victims.

“The Trial of Ratko Mladić” provides haunting insights into a convicted war criminal’s motives, and the genocide he commanded his troops to carry out — as well as an intimate look at the victims left behind, who remain haunted by what their families endured.

  1. well, either he was a capable general, who knew exactly what was going on or he was a complete idiot and had no idea what was going on. It’s one or the other I wonder which they would choose. 💁🏼‍♂️

  2. A mass grave and it’s just a show. It sounds like the people in the United States calling school shootings fake 🤦🏼‍♂️

  3. trying to pose the defense of this war criminal and genocidal maniac as a David and Goliath defense is absolutely ludicrous and laughable 🤦🏼‍♂️

  4. after studying this for several years, I would have to side with the Croatians and the Muslims 💁🏼‍♂️ the servers under Milosevich were out of control 🤦🏼‍♂️

  5. The question is why⁉️💁🏼‍♂️ it’s simply incomprehensible killing people 🤦🏼‍♂️😔
and to do so so systematically and all the people involved in doing it is just unthinkable 😔

  6. Netanyahu Biden and Trump need to be arrested for war crimes crimes against humanity genocide and the distribution of weopons of mass war GET ALL of the monsters

  7. It’s silly how Mladic was captured and arrested at a much later age. Now that he’s arrested, he’s under ICC imprisonment and will receive free medical care lol. Hardly a prison condition.

  8. The Serbs have a persecution complex. They’ve been giving us the same sob story of since the 1300s while doing the exact same things to their neighbors. Never forget that they lit the match that ignited WWI. Cry more, Serbs

  9. I wouldn't have called out for my family to come out of the woods, because they knew that they were going to be killed!! THE people who are responsible for this should have all been done exactly the same way as the people who they murdered 😢

  10. And look at what Muslims are doing to Christians in African nations right now!! Butchering, torturing and slaughtering them in the thousands!! THE CURAN is the only religious book that urges the severing of the neck of all whom do not abide and follow the prophet Muhammad

  11. The defense team will have a lot of question from God one day and I pray they are ready for them. I get protecting your home land but man they are all murders they weren’t Muslim extremist .

  12. I wish him a long life, to live 120 years and to suffer without being able to die. Ask yourself why this criminal's daughter killed herself, because it was a shame who her father was, that's why she took her own life. I wouldn't judge this criminal, I would just hand him over to the mothers of Srebrenica.

  13. I was in my early 20s when all this happened, I was sad when I saw the news on TV, years later when all was over I just cried when I heard all the crimes that were done by the Serbes.

The hypocracy from the defence to claim "We do not have a chance to find or build a defence"… I would have answered "Now you know how all the victimes must have felt"

  14. No one mentions the fact that both Bosnian Muslims and Croats sided with Nazis to exterminate the Serbs.
Independence movements from both Bosnia and Croatia glorified this history and Serbs responded to that threat.

  15. To help put this into perspective for some, the beef between Serbs and Bosnian Muslims goes way back. Even before WW2. It literally goes back to the 1400s when the Ottomans first invaded what was once Yugoslavia. The people who willingly converted to Islam are the Bosnian Muslims. There was no Islamic religion in the area prior to that.

  16. I watch all these pos get put on trial or unalived for the atrocities they have done and one is doin the EXACT SAME THING NOW……and no one is doing nothing at all…what is wrong with the world….evil is evil and must be delt with….not glazed and jkd off while they STILL act like the victims…..whats wrong with yall????

  17. When the defense used the nazi invasion in ww2 as an excuse for a future 1992 "clean out of anyone not Serb," they lost. A World War was brought to them, as was brought to everyone. We don't "genocide" 47 years later. the general, the vrs and the entire defense team pulled these triggers and dug the holes for the masses 47 years later.
When the property owner willfully said he was forced to turn a blind eye for the sake of his own family, they lost. That one statement is admission of guilt. That was an excuse he used to save face to go home after court and live.
Guilty on ten of the counts was allowed "en passe" on eleven.

The Tribunal had all Eleven counts as guilty.

  18. Lost my grandfathers sister aunt milka who lived in section rok I think the Bosnian Tigers came her children told that they have to go up in hills she said what are they going to do tiger they took her back in the apple groves and shot her

  19. We used to guard the mass graveside…for landmines clear teams…they shot a long rope with a ball on it an boom!!! All minus in perimeter we're detonated!!! About 3000 people were on that graveside in sebrenitska!!! I was there!!!

  20. I was in Bosnia for 13 months as SFOR…1997 and them Serbs are no joke!!! They used to walk around with no weapons…but we had to watch out for snipers when we saw them…some buildings the sun would go through…had so many bullet holes!!! Carnage indeed!!!they are 💀👀

  21. OK when the moslems slaughter innocent Christians, but this is a war crime? Gimme a break, they chose a side and clearly the wrong one. Inshallah.

  22. Респект Трибуналу в Гааге ! Путина и всех его приближённых в Трибунал в Гаагу , за преступление против народов Грузии , Молдовы , Украины ! ! !
