Go back to Part 1! Pull the Dash! I DON'T Think SO! No Brand Loyalty! 2007 GM Saturn Honda 3.5l https://youtu.be/cO4XT8D4JGQ
Sometimes it's just better to remove the seat
So was the actuator and drums issue hand n hand? Or two separate things?
stupid question time, what camera do you use? I have replaced the passenger actuator gear a couple years ago, and now the actuator on the drivers side is starting to "CLICK"
Ray where did you source the actuator, I have the same problem with my wife's Saturn L200. Thanks
You, sir, have the patience of a saint.
My father in-law towed a Saturn behind his motor Home and people told him to get a Saturn because it doesn’t run speedo and put miles your car.
Thanks! You deserve a tip for working that actuator back in.
My hands and arms were hurting for you. You get to the point you have no more strength in those positions
Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
I have canceled my subscriptions to Netflix and Amazon. THIS IS DRAMA. Best footage I have seen in a tight spot. I habe been held hostage doing the electrical slip ring wiring job in a Pettibone mobile crane. This reminds me of just that. Its so simple! Just contort , use the force, and "feel" eh? Props for documenting your suffering. You the man
Hello… wow I would b cursing like hell … I remember doing something like that Ohhhh … my back hurts watching u doing this …. Great job…. Ur a good teacher by videoing all ur work …. Its a great feeling when U finished a tough job though…. Ya when I get frustrated I stop for a bit , or I would break something …. Ur funny sometimes …. Love ur videos …… A fan………………………….
Another hard to watch video. Great work
Well I though I had hard time today. Then I saw this… OK my day was easy. Thanks and congratulations for this success.
Engineers – "We'll hide this up here since we'll never need to replace it as the gears are metal."
Accountants – "Metal, eh?"
I have a 2013 infinity g37x. Which oil would you recommend. I have always used valvoline but feel this car needs a little extra. Amsoil or royal purple? Love your channel been a subscriber for 3 years. Way to take a chance on you. Your awesome. Great job.
The creation of Saturn was a weak attempt to compete with Japanese vehicles. In the end, GM purchased Honda’s V6 but that was a short lived attempt. GM began using its infamous Dexcool antifreeze which caused problems either the Honda engine. Sadly, Saturn disappeared due to the typical GM mentality of quantity vs. quality.
There were 4 actuators on my 2010 impala. I only replaced 3. In addition to the huge pain it was to do, also becoming a contortionist, my tools were expanded, adding a tiny ratchet.
This crap made me despise chevy, traded thie impala in for the truck I bought.(also a chevy. Came with a completely useless console-zero storage that I replaced with one that has MORE than enough. )
nice job ray hows the back 🙂
YAHTZEE!! First toss.
….. and air nozzling the organic matter down through the vents and drains, to collect in the bottom of the fenders? That's a REEEEEEEEEE
It makes people (customers) really appreciate the hard and difficult jobs you do every day.
Watching this video I had two thoughts. First, I've been under the dash on a few of my vehicles so I understand the pain. Second, it sounds like it was the actuator for the windshield defrost that was failing. If so, as someone from Wisconsin where the recent polar vortex meant lows around -15F, the irony of the DEFROST actuator failing in Florida amuses me. I know that function is just as important when the windshield fogs up in humid weather, but as the saying goes "What's in a name?".
Ray, as others have also said, your self control is impressive. I'm sure that doing such a frustrating and uncomfortable job would have inspired a stream of loud foul language from me, as that is exactly what happened the previous times.
you are a bit of a contortionist Ray! but that is what is necessary being a mechanic! there is such limited spaces
to repair autos! like late VW beetles you had to drop the engine to change the plugs! great job Ray!
Ray you slave driver, making the wife unit be in your videos…. what the hell are these people thinking? Not looking forward to the actuator in my fiesta but it's going to stop working soon and no AC in the summer bad… Lol, you got Lauren good 🤣🤣🤣
Its time to stop when the muscle on the left side of the spine cramps up and folds you under the seat. ask me how I know…….. well done Ray.
You hear the…..â€sssshhhhhiiii†under your breath 😂😂😂😂😂😂🙋â€â™‚ï¸ðŸ™‹â€â™‚ï¸ðŸ™‹â€â™‚ï¸
I have to ask why they make dash components so difficult to replace that you would have to take the dash apart. Why Why Why!!!
I used to secure the bolts with electrical tape around the bolt and the actuator but the bolts don't go all the way threw. They won't fall and then install the actuator in position with the bolts already taped, then the only thing I had to do was tight them up half way then remove the tape and tight them al the way!
But I struggle a couple of time like you did until I decided to tape them.
No, good day to you good sir
Working in funny positions to get them bolts oh how I remember it well ….. and like a fool I’m yelling at you bolts just up a bit more now in a bit lol lol
One note of caution. I have found hair combs toys, soldiers, and plastic Ariel, among other things that fell down through the defrost vent into the AC heater unit, resulting in damage to the actuator Motors. I started using a borescope to look into the vent to see if there were any foreign objects inside the heater before I changed the actuator. If foreign objects are inside the unit blocking the door, it becomes necessary to remove the dash and take the heater unit completely apart . It's never good to have to do a job twice .
My back was literally hurting for you Ray.
So before you start putting in the actuator. (I paused the video) I guess you are going to hook it up to power first to put it on a mode first. Restarting the video from time marker 3:26.
All excess fasteners are relegated to the glove box for future discovery.🤣
Could of got Lauren to pass you a drink while in that contorted position
Now that would be a good video. Lol
why are you leaving the engine running whilst you're in that position that every mechanic hates?
Camera, gravity, screw, gravity, gravity is out of control lol you’re awesome Ray when I grow up I wanna be just like you 😅
I need to attack the leaves on my Carnival/Sedona, previous owner has several trees over their driveway
Some jobs just need to be done with eyes closed
Ray you get yourself in to some tight spots, do you secretly do yoga for those awkward places lol.
I would never send my car in for a service or repairs with the engine vents full of leaves and other rubbish. I also keep my engine clean with no oil leaks. I don't expect my mechanic to work on dirty greasy engines and an untidy car. I believe its a matter of etiquette. I have a 2007 BMW X3 which is notorious for oil leaks however there are none on mine.
