  1. "Now I know you're gonna ask 'what about my hose clamp tool?' Um, I broke it. I was improperly using it and I snapped off one of the ends." — So does that mean everything is NOT a hammer???

  2. My guess is most of the oil coolers need to be replaced because people over tighten the cap.

A parts customer may have switched the original and returned the cheaper unit

  3. Some things I learned from having to do this. You do not need to take off the EGR. Just loosen the top hose clamp and when the manifold is loose you can just pull it right off of the EGR hose. I would suggest taking the EGR off after you get the manifold off for cleaning, but it makes removal easy. You also don't need to disconnect the coils, but it will give you a little more wiggle room with the fuel rails.

  4. I've seen that exact parts situation when I was in IT. Someone would buy the cheap part AND the expensive part. They'd take the expensive part and use it and then put the cheap part in the expensive part box and return it claiming it doesn't work or it doesn't fit. Then they get a full refund on the expensive part and only pay the cheap part price. The cheap part is left in the expensive part box and resold to some sucker who doesn't know the difference. This is why when we sold components we would serialize them and link them to the sale so if/when they were returned the actual parts were fully trackable back tot he original sale. Moral of the story? People suck.

  5. Let it be known that any type of fraud, theft or underhanded acts will eventually wind up costing everyone even those who played no part in this fraudulent activity, my mother raised six children and at an early age she taught us the value of working, she looked harshly on any kind of crime let alone theft, if you are in need of anything go get yourself a job.

  6. Could have been an honest mistake. Whomever was on the job packing those things was high on whatever and had something else on their mind. It's not always a good idea to always think someone was intentionally ripping you off.

  7. 18 ft/lbs people! That is how tight to put the filter cap back on. I never remove it cold and NEVER tighten past 18 ft/lbs! I know the plastic design sucks but I've seen so many videos of people cranking these back on. The oil drain bolt is only 20 ft/lbs. People screw those back in like they're freaking head bolts.

  8. The amount of times Eric says “that’ll be fun doing it in the car” during a tear down and to then see you actually doing it………Lawd 😮😮

  9. Seriously Ray, how hard would it be to remove the fenders on this mess. I will never buy a Chrysler product after seeing all your videos. I really do not know how you do it. I watch Dave’s auto out in Utah. They actually remove the body bolts and raise them on the lift. Love your work. Impressive.

  10. its a common failure point beside this, this, this and that oh and that over there lmao i bet the real fun begins when putting it all back together

  11. I will never understand why an engine manufacturer put a oil cooler INSIDE major components of an engine… creating a "HEAT" trap?(thats nuts) … most other vehicles that NEED an engine oil cooler simply have a small mini radiator at the Main engine cooler(water radiator) at the front of a vehicle… which makes sense for heat dissipation and simplicity of design also.

  12. not only autoparts switcharoo but tools too. Bought Milwaukee tools from big box retailer when I opened it had old used beat up Milwaukee tubing cutter in it.

  13. Never heard anyone whine so much about doing the job they get paid for, Crying about Pentastar's that are in about everything and Rarely have a problem except for Chevy and ford people like you that Won't except that horrible problems the 5.3l, 5.4L and every 4 cyl and 6 cyl ford and Chevy that are Total garbage, How about those Knock sensors you have to take intake off of and 5 hours later. How about those GM 3.6's NO COMMENT????!!

  14. You know what would be cool for merchandise on the site, those blue pocket magnetic screwdrivers with the logo of the shop on it, hell I love my pocket magnetic screwdrivers, I'd buy ten of them if you did, and they gotta be blue, because it's blue, so you know it's good haha

  15. I just finished watching this and I saw a short from Dorman where they were advertising all the upgrades they make for this Penstar engine. It looked pretty fantastic. Check it out!

  16. Ray Ray I just want you to know I work at Dorman and our Quality Director has taken this video as a case study to all of our customers to watch for fraudulent returns of Non-Dorman parts. Thank you!

  17. sure enough mine cracked and cost 1200$ to replace with an aluminum part hopefully it will last
my flex plate also cracked 1400$ later. 2014 caravan with 3.6 pentastar e85

  18. Seeing this video I no longer interested to buy Pacifica. Good buy Chrysler for me, that is for sure. L use to like old Chryslers, but not new once. Too complicated. This job is at List $1,000 to change part costing $20. Matter of facts I will never buy new vehicle as long I live. I am already frastrated watching this video.

  19. what is wrong with automotive engineers? Have they no real world experience? do they actually drive an automobile? Could it be any more difficult to change an oil cooler? as always very good video.and i agree with others this engine should be avoided in a used car buying scenario.

  20. Used to work for NavFac San Diego working on Government Vehicles used to get parts like that all the time and then be blamed for swapping parts that’s a load of 🐂 shit

  21. the VW Routan MY 2009 – 2014 was 'badge engineered' Dodge Caravan / Chrysler Town & Country. The 3.6 PentaStar engine was used 2011 – 2014.

So its like the Pontiac GTO (2004 – 2006) it was a Holden Monaro that had a Pontiac styled front end and badging but was built by Holden

  22. Great content such a frustrating design Ray, I have a Opel insignia 2 ltr diesel my oil filter housing looks similar 🙈. Always a pleasure to watch your videos 👍👍👌

  23. Once you got this all sorted out, one all things have been fixed, once the vehicle is moved to the parking lot to await customer pick up, something else will break, after all, that is the Chrysler/Fiatt/Dodge way. I admire how you keep at it no matter what.
