  1. Ray, I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, submerge the float in gas and check that it does not fill up with gas, if the float does not float the needle valve will not close and all fuel will end up in the crankcase when not running or cause flooding issue. It can get small pin holes in the plastic, this includes automotive carbs with cork type float which can soak up gas and get too heavy to float. I believe they make a gauge to check and set the float fuel level.

  3. Nobody replaces bushes anymore, it’s always the whole arm/member.
    Of course it’s all down to the manufacturer making these parts so cheap, but it’s a symptom of today’s throwaway society. Like that rusty Ford truck at the beginning, it doesn’t look that old, they really don’t build stuff to last anymore. That’s why I love working on old stuff.

  4. Yeah you just use a shut off valve and I drain the bowl and the fuel. Fuel will go bad, and get water in it over the winter, even with a fuel stabilizer. But don't use ethanol fuel in your lawn mower or weed wacker😅, and also empty your gas can, it also go bad and gets water in it, it is a common mistake, for people not to empty the gas can, and it gets water in it, and you put in your lawn equipment in the summer and it will not run!!

  5. You need to add a fuel shut off valve, and turn it off and then run it out of gas, that will pervent the fuel from going through the carburetor into the crankcase, is the needle doesn't seek properly.😢

  6. Next time, take a picture of the carburetor before taking everything off. Then when you begin putting it back together you’ll have a reference.

  7. the 3rd wire from the carb going under the plastic cover is the speed governor. It functions of the flywheel revolutions. That plastic cover is an air cooler. The fins on the flywheel pull air thru the top of the engine to keep it cool, The wind produced goes past an air stopper attached to the 3re wire going to the carb When the engine revolutions increase to fast, ,the air stopper opens up forcing the wire to shut off gas flow in the carb. Simple but effective overspeed govenor.

  9. Kirkland Signature SAE 15W-40 Heavy-Duty Diesel/Gasoline Engine Oil is rated for mixed fleet. It meets API CK-4 for Diesel and API SN for gasoline vehicles.

    If you plan on running your mower a lot, oil with zinc additive is preferred such as Briggs & Stratton Vanguard oil or from the auto parts store Valvoline VR1 oil.

  10. I just had the exact same problem with my Predator 8750 generator. Crank was so full of gas, I couldn't even crank the engine well enough. When I did get it to move a little, it'd squirt gas and oil out of the breather hose. Good thing the crank was full too. Gasoline doesn't make a good lubricant.
