went on a pick for some boating items, ( future video) and ended up with this thought to be no good antique outboard motor, its had a tuff life but lets see if we can still save it?

Guitar strings are great for cleaning out small pipes and tubes
Spark is definitely high on the list of suspect issues on something seriously old
Fill the prop gearbox with Penrite fluid grease.
The old stuff never dies !
Believe it is a 40 or 41 2.5 HP . Motor was made up in New Holstein Wis. Lots of outboards came from Wi.
Nice, great for mixing hooch 😻
Seeing this very old motor work so well was very gratifying. Thanks very much!
A “better nail†hahahh
What a mess wow
A famous youtuber once told me that when dealing with small engines that dont run, it's not always the carb, but it's the carb.
This was a very interesting video . Very interesting to watch.
Been following you for a LONG LONG time…best parts of your video are that you speak to the camera, as if your speaking to we, your viewers…it's like being there! Not a lot of fancy handheld camera work…which is great – makes the videos watchable without getting a migraine! Cheers from Toronto
I know this was 3 years ago but what an awesome little outboard. Old never dies.
Great video Mustie 1
you should google "Z bend pliers", These pliers make the bend that connects to choke, throttle etc. They are not expensive, and they make that bend in one step. They are normally used for model air planes and the like.
An outboard with unusual features. In addition to a trottle, it also has a pet cock.
Or screws to Allen bolts with small washers
Change screws to bolts the plugs to Allen, pack full of grease
Well done, another one saved from the scrap yard! What is on the end of the drill when your turn the engine over? Great tip to heat the fuel line up and blow the shit out of it after!! Looks like there might be a exhaust leak right off the head where the pipe meets the motor. Would like to see it on the water!
Good video , I have this same Lauson boat motor, still running strong. was hoping you would see the large Oil fill plug by the handle:) Somehow, in the past I acquired a Operators manual, and parts book for it. Look like they are copies of original.
good video , and sound quality here. Thanks, Ken
What is in your cleaner cocktail ?

Love your videos. Expect for whatever the faint beeping is in the background. It makes me feel crazy thinking I’m hearing things
I work on many of the old outboards from the 30s, 40s and 50s and am still amazed at the quality. Most haven't been started in 75 years and with a little TLC they run great.
Definetely art decco era 1930's-40's…. very cool !
Boy that runs good
Thank u Tim for the great video

I saw on the internet that someone has a pristine one still in the crate. They're quite attractive little buggers. Well done resurrecting this one. Worth knocking the dents out.
Hahaha, my last name is Lauzon.
This was and awesome video!
its summer of 2023 , i hope you can find some more old outboards…thats my thing to watch
I had one of those antiques. Getting it running is one thing. Putting it on a boat and keeping it running is another. 🙂
Best video I’ve watched in awhile! Had me smiling and laughing with you when that dinosaur started to puff.
