In this video we have a look at a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the big 4.7 that came in with a customer complaint of an engine light and an obvious misfire at idle. This one was not your run of the mill bad coil pack or injector.

  1. Ok please help so I have a 2008 doing the same thing except it doesn’t specify a cylinder it just says P0300 random misfire. Runs rough after starting up and starts misfiring I’ve replaced top 8 plugs and 8 ignition coils, as well as the map sensor. All this and it still misfires

  2. Im literally going thru this problem right now with my 05 4.7 jeep Cherokee 😪 my mechanics all cant figure it out and its costing me so much?! I used to live in Geneseo NY but now im in TN 😭

  3. Found this channel some time ago and been watching religiously since, both educative and entertaining, have learned a lot and love your back-and-forth with Mrs. O 😀
Decided to finally comment too, to me how you could tell that cylinder 4 exhaust valve was stuck from the compression test and explain the logic behind it is nothing short of black magic, lol!

A real pro is a real pro. Greetings from Finland!

  4. I have the 2.4 it's doing this same thing and funny thing is when engine cold no miss fire engine gets hot bam miss fire comes back then some time the problem will just go a way and come and when it does seems to not want to go back to normal I changed spark plug move coils around the only thing I haven't changed is the injector

  5. Kind of a long shot here, but recently bought an 07' Jeep Commander with the 4.7L gas engine, has 178k miles and I'm possibly having a random misfire but no codes. I can definitely feel the misfire, and hear the misfire in the exhaust tone. So far it seems to be pretty consistent on cylinder 5, but I have seen it on a few different cylinders. I can see the misfire on the mis-fire data, but have no CEL or any other symptoms besides being able to feel it. I'm still working out when it's more prominent, but it appears to be more noticeable towards idle. Idk if it's worth noting, but my Idle Air Control current has a value of anywhere from 4000-5000 mA which seems high but I'm not sure.

  6. I Have a 2010 Jeep Discovery with a 3.7 , replace injector , plugs, coil,Rocker arms in place, so what do you think burn valves,,,, ????????????

  7. I get a random misfire cylinder 7 . I tried new plug and coil and still get the random misfire cylinder 7. Any Ideas ? I’m thinking maybe a failing lifter on 7

  8. I am so grateful that I came across This Video. Buddy! you are blessing.. Thank you so much for your knowledge and especially for sharing it all with us. God Bless you..

  9. But there's a reason it came out…..weak lifter usually. Im shocked u didnt address the cause. It should have gotten new melling lash adjusers cuz it's just gonna spit it out again and they may not be so lucky next time.
