Come On Cows!

Come on cows! It’s time to bring the cattle to a brand new pasture. But first, we have to finish building the fence. I’ll show you how we build quick and easy T-post fences, fencing 5 acres for less than $500. I also cover how we build temporary fences out of poly rope for moving the cattle to daily paddocks.

  1. took me so many years to figure out, this is where I belong…not the city rat race… hard work, elbow grease, challenges … I think thats how we were meant to live … it has such a strong tug on my heart

  2. Up in your neck of the woods does anyone plant cover crops into their pasture to extend the grazing season. In Missouri we do it a lot with rye, radishes, mustard greens, certain types of clover, and other crops. It allows an extra 1-2 months on pasture without using hay. Cover crops also aid in nitrogen production and pulling nutrients from deep in the soil profile.

  3. The cows were hilarious in their exuberance and indecision!🤣😂🐄. I have found your videos to be so informative and enjoyable although some of the jokes are really bad it is part of the charm. 😝🤗❤️

  4. 🧑‍🌾🇨🇦🧑‍🌾Betty and I have just a few acres as well….we are The Ole Church 5 Acre Homestead.

Watching you build the fence. How do you support the corner posts?

The tensioners seem to help! Would you share with us how much it would cost to fence our 5 Acres?

Check out our Easter Sunday Walking Tour video to get an idea of our dimensions.
The grass really is beautiful and your cows will enjoy it!

  5. They came back out of the good field because they wanted to say thank you for the tall grass. That’s what they were all talking about. They wanted to make sure you ( Hurd ) them. Lol. Great video. Thanks

  6. That pasture is gorgeous. Keep up the good work. I’m impressed that those T-posts work for you so well. All the small farmers around us have said not to use them because their cows push up against the wire and break through the fence. Most people around here use the wood posts and woven wire like you did on your heifer yard.

  7. I'm not into farming as a lifestyle, but I'll tell you what – you are smart and make me interested in most everything you do. Thanks for posting these videos

  8. Thanks a lot for the great information! I subscribed to your channel.

I was wondering if the cows came back to check in with you and your wife. After all, they appeared to be begging to get onto the fresh pasture. So why would they run back twice if not because of you?
