In this video I have a look at a 2010 Nissan Rogue that was dropped off from another shop. They were having issues with it blowing the marker light fuse every time they turn on the lights. They thought the issue was in the rear tail lights but come to find out…. it wasn’t 😉

  1. I would have started with the radio as soon as I saw it was on that circuit. But you are a digital creator so you created a great video explaining how to diagnose a short to ground.
Just imagine how short the video woulda been if you had just pulled the radio. I’m not even at thar part of the video yet and I’m banking it is the radio install.

  2. I’ve been watching this channel for about a year and a half now, and I can’t believe how many times you’ve said the car came from another shop and they couldn’t figure it out, I’m surprised they are still in business, why don’t those people just go to you 😮.

  3. Awesome job!
I have kind of a similar problem in my Renault Clio 4 from 2014. I accidentally touched a piece of metal with the wiring circuit on the back of the headlight switch and from then my headlights aren't working anymore. Only the daytime running lights are. And the turn signals.
Problem is that I didn't found a blown fuse. Didn't checked all of them.
Now, my question would be: if I accidentally made a short then it is mandatory for a fuse to blow or not?
Because if it is mandatory then it means that I should check all the fuses because some of them provide power to others.

  4. Doing a root cause defect analysis is the key to effective repair. Eric is very skilled in that area. I always start by asking myself, "What changed?". I suspected an amateurish after market radio installation and Eric correctly found the cause. Good Job!

  5. It looks like they got that radio from crutchfield but they didn't follow the instructions. They tell you to a) crimp or solder/heat shrink all connections and b) seal off all unused wires with heat shrink or tape to avoid this exact condition. I've done several installs from crutchfield and never had an issue. They actually make it pretty easy to do. providing you take your time and follow the instructions to the letter.

  6. That's why you install stuff the proper way….or you pay for it later like this. If you don't know how….take it to a shop and have them do it. I live in Alaska…. a remote start is almost required here as well as tunes.

  7. "I assume the fuse is blown currently". Really?? Or did you perhaps intend "voltagely"?? Very punny! Very nicely fixed. I saw that non-ended wire coming out of the wire block and thought "that was strange" — long before you got to it. Yes, I am a "home sparkie".

  8. Coming to you from North Dakota, North Side Automotive Service, not that you need to hear from the cheap seats but that was a great idea on the load side, I have used similar before and my guy just watched that and he is building one up. That was a great find, especially with both of the terrible installed aftermarket items! nice!!! Have a wonderful day, we are currently dealing with the same issue but I don't think we will find that same issue as the radio is stock! which is the why of how we found you, I am going to bookmark your channel, thank you
