Pigs in a Box?

When do pigs come in a box? What do grass farmers do in the winter? These and other burning questions are answered in this video! We go to pick up our pork cuts from the butcher and unpack them at the farm. I show you some of our pastured pork cuts and explain how the butcher’s schedule for pigs works. Then, we clean up the farm for winter, putting away temporary fencing, hoses, feeders, drinkers, and chicken tractors. Finally, I visit with the Dexter cattle and fill their mineral feeder.

  1. It's good to see the seasons change and the chore schedules rotate. Season's are such a wonderful depiction of the peace that comes from nature's routines, yes? I happened to come across another channel that had such an interesting title that it stopped me in my tracks and I had to watch it. The title of the video was "How Joel Salatin brings out the "Pigness" of the Pig". Have you ever heard of him? He has a very different setup from yours, but I thought you might find this interesting as well, if you haven't seen it already. I thought of you as he discussed his experience with pigs and how he raises them, so I thought I'd share it with you in case you would be interested in checking it out. Pigs are so wonderful.

  2. Keep up the good farming Pete you’re my favourite farm YouTuber I’m always whatching your videos and you let me start smiling when I’m having a bad day i was borned and raised on a farm in iceland 🇮🇸 🐖🐄🐂🐃

  3. 5:52 is about the most horrifying moment I've had on YouTube in a while.

I'm relaxing, trying to wrap my head around pasture pigs after two days spent planting potatoes, and then I start swearing to GOD that cow unlocked it's jaws like a horror movie

  4. I Certainly cannot top the comments of others! your channel is special, practical, sensitive and inspirational. A very special mix of humor, caring and practicality. I look forward to seeing the new episodes. Do you really really have a tractor acquisition problem? lol
