Hilarie and I have some fowl work to do in the winter chicken house! Today we get to work building chicken roosts for our high tunnel chicken coop. I show our chicken roost design, we build and install the roosts, then put up chicken run fencing. I give a tour of our winter chicken house and outdoor runs, and talk about caring for chickens in winter. In between things, we get a visit from some very special customers and a farm feed delivery. Finally, it’s time for afternoon chores with the piglets and the Dexter cattle.

To order Pete’s book; “A Year and a Day on Just a Few Acres:” https://www.amazon.com/Year-Day-Just-Few-Acres/dp/149549957X/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2NM8AQPCG3IT5&dchild=1&keywords=a+year+and+a+day+on+just+a+few+acres&qid=1587327049&sprefix=a+year+and+a+day+on+just%2Caps%2C183&sr=8-1

The trick to screwing Phillips head screws without skipping is to make sure your drill and screw bit is st 90 degrees to the screw on the 360 degree plane of the wood you are driving into. If you hear the tell tale sign of the bit skipping orient the drill to 90degreesto the bit.
Some other factors are bits to big or small to the head of the screw. Also using screws with cuts in them for self tapping eliminates the need of drilling pilot holes.
I find your channel very entertaining and instructive. Your humor is a bit dry(?) But I enjoy it.
12:28 thank you Pete and Hillary

Pete , I own a farm similar to yours in central KY , I want to expand into raising broilers for direct to consumer. How do you process your own chickens and sell to the public. If you are USDA exempt to process your own poultry how did you get that certification? thank you love you videos
when you started talking about screw head drive type, I had to scan the comments for Canadians mentioning robertson (square drive) screws … they're fanatical about those things!
its very good to support local farmers and small family enterprises
Wow I love this, follow me too
Yeah I was going to say you should have put a hand on it you just fold it down when you fold it up put your hand in it now so I guess it's the same thing I was going to say baby in Florida

What do you call a cow with no legs. Ground beef. Ha!
Ha! I love it… I save screws to reuse them too. I get laughed at for it too. And then the star head screws… same thing I call them and get corrected.
1:56 Chicken wants to speak to your Manager, but then changes its mind.
Put hinges on the legs. That way they fold up against the roost when you fold it against the wall.
legs on hinges ?hook and eye on otherside
