Unlisted Second Half https://youtu.be/AOmF3GNoDIc
This must have been a few thousand dollars to do all this work. Minimum.
I dont understand why time the belt?
I mean if its in time its in time
How is timing the belt doing anything
I mean i can only figure for the future if timing goes out in then can look at the belt and see more easly ?
Back in the 90's Nissan and Ford conglomerated the Nissan Quest… and it had a self tightening timing belt…. and Ford mechanics were making it too tight and the motors busted off the water pump pulleys and broke crankshafts and stuff…
GOOD TIMES by all…
All of that work has to be worth more than that vehicle itself
You got me panting 2 start ""BARKING"" I'LL give "U" the Benny of doubt. Wee shall "C" if you do the voodoo I wish you 2do… THERMOSTAT you yummy!
Puddles. Your cooling system servant 🥶 ðŸ²
It seems to me you're happier now you're not at the dealership is you working for yourself
Did you Ave to run over to the spin balancer to get that crank sprocket installation tool?
Most definitely one of my favorite mechanics channels. Not only for the content but also for the commentary. I would trust him with my POS.
All you gotta do is tap it in..just tap it in…give it a little tappy lmao
I am just an armature but I scribe mark everything. Like you said couldn’t hurt.
Rain Man, Love the video very explanatory always a good time. Unfortunately I could not find, how to get to the link, on my television that's where I watch your videos is on my television. So maybe sometime in the near future you take the second half and make a video and say this is for the intellectually incompetent who can't figure things out maybe you can make like a little playlist and I can go in there and finish your video. Other than that, I moved on to the filthy destroyed Duramax. Keep up the good work. Please say hello to the family in the wife unit from the rest of the world Peace
Hey Ray, I don’t know if you realize you never put these little black dowels type plastic pieces back between the oil pump and the water pump. I think it helps to set the hight for the water pump alignment. Which is usually taken off of the old water pump. Or you could buy a pair of new ones. Hopefully this does not cause a leak later or impeller interference with housing.
Strange how you just happened to have some nail polish laying around the shop……!!!! 😂
How long did this entire repair take? Just curious…
One heck of a job for a Rear main seal @Rainman Ray's Repairs
Good video @Rainman Ray's Repairs
Good morning Ray
What you call a flex plate, We use to call it a fly wheel. Starter engages the fly wheel to crank the motor. When did the terminology change and Why? Harmonic balancer on front, index for distributor, strobe timing light, marks for timing advance. I still like the old engines. 4 hoses. 2 for the radiator and 2 for the heater core. Maybe a few more for the Air Con. Sit on the fender and put your legs in the engine compartment for comfort.
When something is THAT hard to get to, why would you do it wrong once you get there?
I recently had an issue on my 01 explorer sport trac 4.0 ,the timing cover had 2 stripped holes for the waterpump bolts,so I had to replace the timing cover alingbthe way I changed the chain guide and cassette the chain tensioner looked fine but yeah all that for stripped bolt holes, I was alittle afraid to it but I figured I might as well, but thing on doing work like this is torque specs if you go too much it ends up bad for bolt holes, anyway live the videos and I do learn alot from you,,stay safe and God bless
24:28 I could have swore you pry-barred a timing belt before
24:42 Good job phalanges.
Japaniese junk?
Great series of videos as usual, kudos!
Don't know if you can or want to share but, how much would this job cost for parts + labor (by the book or your own rate).
I have to imagine it's over the book value of the truck but IMO book value isn't the end all so not knocking anyone willing to pay, just curious.
Ray this is a question, first I’m not even a backyard mechanic so my question is with timing belts if the grooves are equally spaced why do you need to line up the marks?
10mm bolts holding the seal plate in should be 6mm bolts
10mm socket for the head size
A 10mm bolt requires a 17mm socket / spanner
Great video
Need to be careful some of those seals specifically say no grease on them
There are too many ads for the amount of time on this video. 😢
I would rough up seal areas with 600 paper to reset sealing surface
Hi, Ray. I really don't honk that nail polish is your colour.😠Anyways. I would have put a little thin coating of RV sealant on the engine side of the crankshaft gasket. There might be very small imperfections in the metal . I also do this on any mating surface, so there would be 110% leak proof.
At the moment I'm having some troubles with my truck. And I am in need of a good mechanic. Every time I see one of your videos I think, I wish RainMan Ray was in my area. Honestly dude I totally respect your craft and the dedication and time you put into it.
I finally broke down and bought the double box ratcheting ICON wrenches from harbor freight Ray. Holy shit, they cost me 220.00 dollars out the door!! And that was just the metric set.
Whoever changed those heater hoses without removing the transmission may be my hero. (I have no idea what access looks like from above.)
Hey @Rainman Ray. Quick question. At minute 13 you are showing us the paper gasket. Why a paper gasket? Could you not use liquid sealant? Or that’s not the proper way to fix it. Just curious.
