Merci MONSIEUR.

  2. This a terrible video to watch if you are fantasizing about starting a farm 😂🤣😂
JK>>> it's helpful to know ups and downs 👍

  3. Great message, very valuable perspective thanks. I am planning/hoping to move my family of five to a 10-20 acre homestead and spend 2-3 years raising some livestock for ourselves and friends and family. This will give me some firsthand experience and also some time to strategize scaling, which I would like to do at first on our land and then by leasing land in our area. I was raised and have worked for our family-owned business in the city, and started my own bookkeeping business in the last couple years. You’re exactly right when you say “you can’t fly blind.” I believe my 20+ years of experience in a small business-owning family as well as my accounting background will be a real asset when it comes to scaling and financial planning for a small farm.

How old were you when you made the switch, if I may ask?

  4. Not a farmer in the least, but clicked on an agriculture video by Linn Benton Community college and ended up here. great video, and it seems so calming I wish I could have this lifestyle. Thanks for sharing.

  5. I always enjoy listening to Pete talk. I'm a helicopter pilot and started a farm a few months ago. I only have goats right now but am ready to add cattle. I spend most of my free time working on the farm or researching things for the farm. I have muscle cramps every night after working on the farm, but I am excited to get back to it every time.

  6. Hey Pete, thanks for another great video! Here it is 4 years since you posted this video and its still relevant and very informative. It's so easy to get caught up in all the details, so I greatly appreciated you covering the most important aspects and a 'big picture' view. Sending you and your family and farm lots of love and blessings from Perth, Western Australia. 😄💗👍

  7. Pete, I am only a few years younger than you and grew up on a one-cow, one-pig, six-bird farm and worked the neighbors farms after my grandparents retired their farm. I have had a successful military career and working a city-slicker 2nd career. I am considering going into farming. I have the land but don’t know if it can support me. I would love to see you do a modern day video of what your farm produces for you annually. Thing is, my land is larger but I only have about 12 acres that is pasture. I am thinking I could have another 10 acres cleared and would like about 20 cow/calf pairs. Can I make a decent living on that and never touch my other income?

  8. Sir thank u for ur video how Big should be the size of the farm when I will start I like doing this job because we are farmer immigrate before 10 years to USA

  9. I enjoy your videos. I’d love to start a small homestead in a few years. My grandparents had about 160 acres in town before I was born. Would love to run it as a small family adventure and see how it goes?

  10. I'm in the process of relocating to North Carolina, and I'm seriously considering starting a small herd of Black Angus cattle. Not for business, but because I've always found the presence of these beautiful animals to be incredibly therapeutic. There's something about watching them that's just soothing.

How big is this beautiful herd? ❤

I'm curious, how many acres do you think would be the minimal requirement for a small herd of 25-30 Black Angus cattle? I want to ensure they have ample space and are well taken care of. Looking forward to your insights.

Thanks for all your informative videos!

    Best regards,

  11. I like this video, I am thinking of doing the same. At the moment I work as a Software Engineer, but I dislike more and more just sitting behind the computer all day watching a screen. And every software issue the management wants us to make is always in a hurry. At the moment I am looking into the options of raising chickens and ducks and what I all need/costs.

  12. I just found your YouTube channel today, and im dead set on starting a farm, I just have no money, or land lol you have already taught me more than I could have imagined about farming, thank you for your videos, im pretty sure I have watched them all today.

  13. Love your videos. I grew up on a small ranch I've already seen all the issues. A few years ago a big winter storm blew in I would work at the water department in the day feed cattle at night. One time I had ice my beard and my job called me to fix a water leak. I'm in the guard and every deployment I miss working the farm so after this deployment I'm gonna start my own ranch.
