We’ve all been there if we work in the shop and it seems to be happening more and more lately. What’s that you ask? Aftermarket parts that fail way to soon or aftermarket parts that are crap right out of the box! Grrr…. can drive a man to drinking 🺠am I right!?Any how, it just get frustrating after a while. -Enjoy!

Let's be honest folks it is not a Napa problem, O'Reilly's, Autozone, Advance, Rock Auto or any of them. It is aftermarket parts in general regardless of where they come from. They all sell the same stuff in different boxes when you start actually chasing it backwards. It just seems more frustrating somedays than others is all. Am I going to keep buying it just like the rest of you? You betchya! ðŸ˜
0:13 – You are from the south of Upstate! Y’all come back now, y’here?
Thank you for another Great video. Cheers
Late to the party but here goes. 89 ranger. Pine needles rot out heater core. Oem pricey af. Get a auto store core for way less. Fitment not exact but made it work. All good. Fastforward a year, pow. Window fogs up. It blew again. Wtf. Pull it out it looks like new, seam leaking. Said OK, took it back. Warranty gave me a new one. Less than a year, pow. Another blow out. Said I'm not doing this every year. Went to the junk yard. Got one for $5. Oem. Never touched it again. Last aftermarket I bought.
I was wanting to watch you replace that blower system again but I could have just hit rewind. haha We all go thru this with all of the Chinesium crap, even OEM is mostly crap.
Well, we all do it and the use of after market usually depends on availability and risk. You did the right thing,
Focus engine steadies last 6-7 years from Ford and about 5 A/M., so the age of the car is the indicator. Would I use A/M on an engine rebuild ? Not on your life.
Integrity! 👌ðŸ»
Honor and integrity
That's how I used to do it 45 years ago… You take it on the chin, keep the customer smiling and move on down the line. You're a good man, MgGee…
I own a 2017 Nissan Rogue with 46,000 miles on it and still under the Extended Manufacturer Warranty. We were in an accident and I've been dealing with the at fault drivers insurance company who is only using CAPA replacement parts instead of OEM parts. This includes the front bumper, grille, front lamps, fender and front door mirror assy and of course anything found after tear down. The repair shop I'm using is highly recommended but have told me anything the insurance refuses to cover as to OEM parts I'll have to pay the difference. The insurance adjustor is telling me it's all body repair and will not void my warranty although Nissan told me this isn't true. I don't know what to do. Pay the difference then sue the insured for reimbursement if that's even an option? Any comments that can help?
NAPA has to be the most expensive parts dealer in the country other than dealerships.
Eric, like I’ve allways said, the difference between a “ hooker†& mechanics,,,,, at least they get paid for their comebacks ! Sad but true,, the other is,, a doctor buries his mistakes, mechanics have to live with them ! LOL , have a great day !
You will get more customers from this guy later on.
Great video Eric , question do you still have that light up torque wrench , I went on to your store but couldn't find it ! The auto parts store that I work for only sells the one that clicks and I already own that one , I'm looking for the one you had that lites up ! Thanks
If you can buy aftermarket that's made by whoever made it for the OEM in the first place it's generally fine (and good value) things like Denso coil packs, other than things of that nature true aftermarket has gotten so bad that I hate using it. I flat out won't use Dorman at this point unless it's the only option.
You can’t take pride in a “fixt it†when you don’t understand what you fixed!
Yes making sure that you got my information there and hopefully you can respond on a GMC truck 2013 GMC having a problem with the brakes brakes brakes leg and they seem to be sticking all brand new calipers rotors pads everything is new on it even master cylinder
I once bought a new exhaust, and it made my windshield wiper fly off…..
Those pesky aftermarket parts I'll tell ya!
I hate nissans
Hey Eric.. I was watching one of your old videos from January of 2016 , where you were fighting like a motha ,,,,,,, to remove a timing cover on a pos chevy Colorado . and that video absolutely proves that automotive technology has not advanced for the mechanics of the 21st century . Two ðŸ‘👠to ya for soldiering through . what and the hech happened to real engineering where we could remove a timing chain in thirty minutes with just a hand full of tools , and even better when all the parts only costs about $50 .
thank you for your videos
Tim from Wisconsin .
Recently while we were 400 miles from home the upstream O² sensor failed in our 2009 RAV4. Denso makes the part. It's only $44 from Amazon but Amazon's page says it's made in China. The one at the O'reilly's auto parts store was $198 retail but it said Assembled in the USA. I think the Denso part on Amazon is NOT the same. Likely counterfeit junk. Cost me $410 with labor but it didn't say made in China on it.
Hi from England Erico, I dont think your a tool, you seem like a dead straight mechanic to me.
I know what you mean though to a customer your only as good as the parts you fit.
If you are a professional and do not care what the parts cost (the customer pays for it) then by all means pay 300 percent more for OEM. (Helps keep aftermarket stuff even cheaper for meðŸ˜.)
All I have to say is, No on Dorman!!! Great job Eric O! Thumbs up to honest quality service.
Autozone alternators got a good warranty. Had to take three back in the same week. One time the parts clerk insisted it couldn't be bad because the label touted "Triple Checked". I had him put it on the tester and he was shocked that it failed.
Been a mechanic for 47 yrs. Blower motors resistors and window motor assemblys from dorman are terrible also. Wont put one on.
