In this video I have a look at 2007 Chevrolet Classic 5.3 that came in with the engine light on and a customer complaint of no cooling fans. I found a P0480 and P0481 stored in the PCM. This is a pretty common issue with the cooling fan relays on this year. Let’s have a look. -Enjoy!

Good sir, I’ve been stuck on the 2 blue wire predicament for 2 days now and you’ve saved me a huge headache. Thanks and keep up the quality workðŸ™ðŸ¼
A dollar and some change for a part, love it
Eric you eat well.
Mrs O is a keeper.
You are showing your soft side for shop cat.😂
how much you charge for that?
Yes, field trip with Uncle Eric! Does the average person know that electrical, steering, and suspension components can be purchased for next to nothing from good junkyards? These particular parts are designed to last at least 100k miles.
Thank you! You helped me find the final issue i was chasing
the crud and rust you deal with is beyond the worst i have ever seen. your wife cooking and smiling is rare if you can do it i can try thanks
I appreciate you sharing your knowledge.
No worries Eric, I do it all the time but i’m 67, does that make it ok lol
My 06 suburban had the same exact issue
Your video was the help I needed
I picked a part at the junkyard and fixed my truck
Thanks
I am now a subscriber
Today. I started out around 4:00 a.m. Scouting out 27 Chevy Silverado 1500 4.3, various years. To find this cooling fan Relay box. The one I did find was in a 96-99. I'm not sure exactly what year since vin wasn't available due to the truck no longer had its upper section, the glove box side of the dash was gone, and the driverside door no longer existed. What I do know is that I am grateful I found the Relay box. It was a Southern Truck. So it was next to perfect condition. Also, what I noticed is that the Chiltons Manual you can get for the year range for these vehicles is terrible inaccurate. The truck I found this box in had a V8. The Manual states this electrical setup was never used for 8'S, only 6's. This is, in fact, false. It took me hours on Google and YouTube trying to find out the correct wiring schematic, since apparently the Schematic in the Chiltons Manthisual didn't cover the wiring for this Delphi setup. I'm guessing when they became another company, only the new updates about the new schematics are printed into the manuals, not thinking the previous schematics would still be needed for the builds still running in the field. This video not only clarified a few things about installing it. It also clarified the question about the 2 blue wires, that seems to be absent on the web. 17:21 . To also add insult to injury. It literally took 12 hrs of repeated searching on YouTube and Google, with many different worded searches, until this video came up. I have literally shared it to everyone I know who works on their own trucks, or friends and family. Trying to get the algorithm to start listing this higher up in the searchable criteria. All of my family except for my immediate family live up north, cooling codes are usually the first ones to be thrown. Hopefully this gives them a good "go to" spot to check first. Since I'm taking my truck south, I shouldn't have anymore corrosion problems of the copper bus anymore. I still took steps by coating it with an inhibitor, as well as blocked the factor punch thru on the inner fenderwell, that was wide open to tires sling road grime, muck, salt, and Ice Melt right up into the Relay block underside, where all of the wire pin connectors, and power bus bar are located. Thank you for the video. It was extremely helpful. This will be my go to for anymore information on unique problems.
I think 2007 was when GM went bankrupt.
Talk about green and crusty a guy in north Carolina has a fleet of trucks and machines thar flooded with salt water and every vehicle was ruined.
He had some boxes open and all you could see was green crusty.
They were lower down on side so maybe reefer trailers but he had about 50 trucks dozens etc had gotten sea water flooded and would need significant repairs. 😊
In 10 years, you'll be checking that you checked the zipper is zipped. All the time. And then you'll triple check.
Great video
Very good video thanks for sharing
Quickly found that issue!!!
The whole E-Fan harness comes off quite easily. I pull them all the time for adding E-fans to the 99-04 Trucks that didn't come with them. It is a quite popular mod to do to those trucks around here and gets the power robbing clutch fan off the front of the engine. It also requires PCM programming to activate them on the older trucks but I do that too. There is even a plug to disconnect it from the 2 control wires going to the PCM but you should also pull those 2 wires and terminals from the PCM connectors. One wire is blue going to the green connector and one wire is green going to the blue connector.
Lolol everything at GM is an afterthought. Lolol😮
The "Cateye" was from 03-07. The E Fans were standard after 2004, they kept the same fuse box cover and just cut a hole in it. Yes they definitely could have made it more accessible, but taking that big cover off does only take 15 seconds max. I've had a few GMT800s. Done a lot of wiring repair on them, but all of mine had the old school mechanical fan clutch. Which I prefer over E fans
Hey Eric do you think that Wilbert would go along with an idea that I just had does all kinds of good stuff and a salvage yard do you think Wilbert's would sponsor to add your helper define a halfway decent car in the junkyard get it running fix all the things that's wrong with it only use a junkyard parts I'll let you find brakes or something like that then you got to go new and then after you get it all fixed and running have a contest on your channel I give the sucker away to all of yours that view your channel and have the contest run for say like 3 months European at the end of 3 months did you pull a name and give the sucker away I want to hear it would be good publicity for Wilbert's and also let people know that all the good stuff to get through in the junk what is the can down at groveland Florida I watch your channel quite a bit a matter of fact I am watching it right now where you went down and got that half of fuse box that was bad and the car that you're working on that's all corroded and junk have you found one down at the junkyard is mint well that was the idea I had it's up to you to see if you want to do it would be good publicity for you and your channel an Wilbert's it would be neat to see I don't know how long it would take to do something like that like I said it would be fun to see all right this is Ken groveland Florida
You wouldn't get that part that cheep around here they think there parts are gold
Yup. After I turned 61, I somehow keep forgetting to zip my fly. About once a week. I'm 64 now and it only happens once every 3 months. Awesome troubleshooting ass always.
Car looks great keep up the good vids and hopefully a lot more wins coming in the future
Just finished this on mine. 2006 GMC.
The cat-eye body style was from 2003-2007.5, I’m a stickler for details Eric. Thats why I enjoy watching your videos. In depth diagnostics. I’ve learned a thing or two watching your videos. Much appreciated, helps me diagnose my projects at home. Of course I don’t have the scan tools and computers you do, but I get it done.
EVERYTHHING is an afterthought with GM
They should have lost the strike…..
