A W rated tire? That’s crazy. Might be appropriate for the autobahn but not here. And high speed tires are built to run cooler, which means the rubber compounds are made to rub away with less friction. So the tires wear out fast because of the stupid W speed rating. Buy something in the S range and you will double the tire life.

The owner is not rotating the tires enough. You should rotate your tires every 5000 miles or every oil change.
Know I'm a bit late, but isn't edge wear known to be caused by under inflation?

These tires also appear to have some wear from underinflation.
80,000+ mi on a set of Michelins on '81 240D. Rotated once @50,000mi. Run with max rated (tire not vehicle) air pressure. Even tire wear. Almost time for a new set.
I got my engine oil changed some years back, when I got it back, I heard an odd noise when the air conditioning was on. I took it immediately back. The techs couldn't hear it and just came short of telling me I was making it up. You wanna know what it was? My cabin air filter is washable/reusable, but they check it every time anyway. It's situated above my blower fan and slides out though a slit. That slit caught a leaf when they pulled it out, and when the filter came out all the way, the leaf fell into the blower fan. They were amazed I could even hear it at all, I told them "I know what my truck sounds like, and it wasn't right." It was tough, very tough to convince them of something wrong probably because of all the nothing-burgers that came before me.
