  1. Here in the UK 🇬🇧 this jaguar is worth peanuts or known as a junker and therefore I wouldn't spend all this money n time on
It. If it was my car I'd just seal up the sunroof. Or dump the car.
    Stick with Japanese cars.

  2. I remember the local Jaguar dealership in California in 1974.
They had about 5 XKEs lined up facing the street. They couldn't sell them. They eventually sold them of course. I wonder for how much?
That was the last year for XKE I think 🤔

  3. IMO if you must have a luxury vehicle it should be leased. #1 They lose value so quickly buying leaves you upside down very rapidly. They lose value faster than non luxury vehicles. #2 As they age, they are a nightmare to keep fixed, parts are expensive and these vehicles tend to be complicated to repair. #3 Most people buy these things to impress their neighbors, co-workers, etc. No one is impressed by a five year old luxury vehicle. You are going to want to flip it every three years anyway if you want to keep impressing people who are impressed by that type of thing. #4 The payment is generally a lot lower for a lease than it is to own. If you drive a lot, this can change quickly but these vehicles aren't generally designed to be driven a lot anyway and doing so completely destroys the value even faster than it is being lost anyway. The entire time the vehicle is leased you aren't responsible for maintenance or repairs. You do not actually own the vehicle and you can turn it in at the end and get another new luxury vehicle. Personally, I don't own luxury vehicles, but if I decided I wanted to own a luxury vehicle, I would lease it.

  4. Can you imagine what this would have been like years ago when car headlining was fabric, held in place with springy metal rods. At least the headlining is a one piece moulding nowadays.

  5. I'm amazed the owner is willing to pay for all this labor for a sunroof leak. I would have patched the shit outta it (don't care if it works) and call it a day and pretend I never had a sunroof.

  6. Oh yes, sunroofs break. Your example sounds like what I found and tried to do. Took one out to swap it for a good one (I thought). It was a complete cluster—-. Excuse my language. Made me not happy. Just don't have sunroofs. Oh, and good luck. After all an auto body shop might be able to do. Love your vids.

  7. Sloggeth hit the nail on the head, an adjustment at the motor to sync the cables will usually square up the roof in the opening and fix that gap. At this point the customer needs to decide if they want to replace those cracked pieces (I couldn't see how badly they are worn or cracked, but if bad it would be a shame to do the adjustment and put everything back together and then have the parts break).

  8. Working on cars for 32+ years now I learned on working on 1 sunroof that’s a job left to a interior shop. These are not jobs I will touch in our shop. Good luck

  9. This is firmly in the “I’m gonna pay the guy” category of car projects for me! Nice work of keeping everything clean too!

  10. NEVER buy a car with a sunroof. Learned this a while ago. 2000 Nissan Maxima. Horrible car. All kinds of issues. Would NOT recommend. The sunroof was just one of the issues.
