Auto parts for 200,Alex.
What is a bumper wind baffle?
It keeps air from blowing through the metal bumper like a trumpet.
Just wondering how long you and your wife been together
One time clips should come with the item being replaced…. bad Chevy….
That seems to be par for the course. Customer supplies the major parts but gives no thought to the fixings. I had a boss like that, until I showed him how quickly I could repair my own problems because I sourced new fixings with the parts rather than trying to tippy toe through extracting inks fixings that were designed for single use, often ended up with a better quality job too.
i love your videos, im not hareing but y is a mechanic doing my job, I can R&I that in 1 hr including overhaul time, you made a grear effort, yes it took me a few trys to figure out those stupid clips,,,,twisr and squese , it should have gone to ba body shop but it was fun talking to my screan telling u how to do thar lol good day friend
Nice dependable little truck I had a 2005 Colorado 5 cylinder
For those plastic clips connected to the bumper, to get them out, all you have to do is pinch the with pliers and push the up or through.
Watching you doing bodywork & the wipedown at the end reminds me something a friend once told me:
At the place he worked, the technicians were advised to do a wipedown outside in the parking lot. That's because in case the customer is already waiting to get his car, he can see you doing this and gets the impression that his car is very well taken care of. When there's no bodywork done, they should still wipe the steering wheel, windshield & headlights, even when they are already clean.
People walking at the shop area, and they think they are title to do so with everyone else yielding them… 😂 They really need a lesson about traffic rules and being safe.
Potential energy.
Ray, I think at my next doctors appointment I guess I’ll have him change out my shoe laces and give me a hair cut. The things you get stuck doing. SMH
Why do it right? When you can do it twice.
Those really are one time use clips but there is a way to reuse them if you're really stuck. After spray bombing the clip with Triflow use a properly sized punch (a nail set usually works well) to tap out the center expanding pin. Put the pin aside and then use pliers to GENTLY squeeze the expanded part of the plug while prying with a trim tool or tapping it out with a small(ish) hammer.
I don't know about those old ones that were on the old bumper but those new ones Ray had delivered, you pull the centre pin out then the rest comes out.
By the way nobody has been able to answer this question!
Hey ray. Good luck with the storm. I have a tech question. I have a 2011 Ford Escape 3.0 with a lifter tick. Can I change the lifter without messing with the camshaft?
When you said you could see us seeing you and then you back tracked, that was a good call, I’m not sure I would want to see every single person watching my videos….🤣🤣🤣
This seems more like a body shop job.
I enjoyed listening and watching you complete this project. 😊
Hey Ray, just to let you know, that I ordered your tool. But I had forgotten the name of it, anyway I typed in rainman ray tool and a picture of the tool came up. So consider yourself famous.
I'd say the plastic rodent control flaps direct air to the radiator
And you all DO know, right, that the thing we call a bumper, isn't actually a real BUMPer. A better definition would be to call it a "Contact witness plate"🤣🤣🤣
your lucky that is not a pile of rust ur working on…
her ein Michigan, give a car 3 years and it's already rusting apart
Personally wouldn't use the rusted fasteners, or at least covered them in antiseize to prevent rust spreading to the new bumper. A raw metal screw or bolt often is a rust origin point.
Yes please don't Rob us of the Jump Scare 🙂
If shops and dealers didn't have such high markups on parts people wouldn't supply their own parts! It makes sense to do it when you are just selling the part to someone and not doing the work. It makes no sense for someone to pay 200 on a part they can buy themselves online for 100.
You can get those clips at autozone or oreillys. They have them in little packs or a whole case with all the clips you would need for years😂 its pretty cheap too the case is like 20-30 bucks
That car horn on my TV freaks out my rescued cat who spent eleven rough years in the wild. He's getting used to it after 18 months and no longer runs for his hidey hole but he still gets alarmed.
Who takes their vehicle to an automotive repair shop for body work ?
Those plastic clips can come out easy
My snap on set just pops them out with no damage to then
Tip into open slot to lift the center lock
That V shaped fork then easilly slides it up
Then the bigger piece just pops out
Sometimes dirt makes it more difficult
I had to remove about a dozen a couple days ago
Took only couple minutes to remove the panel
So clippy clippy instead of using a non-powertool like a ratchet spanner?
Ah yes. The first gen Colorado/Canyon. It was over-engineered in the worst way and none of the departments at GM talked to each other while designing it. To replace the timing chain, you have to remove the engine. Then completely tear the engine apart. All for a normal wear maintenance item… That's just one well-known example, but there are many others of why inter-departmental communication is important when designing a car.
Rainman Ray; body shop aficionado. Is there anything that this guy can't do?
Hi Ray.,
I always enjoy doing my own auto mechanic work but I never enjoyed body work. I've learned so much from you. But It takes a professional to work on these vehicles now. And I learn that A long time ago. Thanks
