In this video I am tacking care of some equipment at home and that includes my 2013 John Deere 5055E Tractor. I bought the tractor used last year with very low hours on it and the guy I bought it from had just changed the oil so I didn’t bother with anything. Now I have put on just about 80hrs since owning it so it is time to carry out some basic maintenance including, engine oil and filter change, lube, fuel filter, air filters, tire pressures and hydraulic filter. -Enjoy

  1. There are 2 plugs underneath… one under the seat area and the other under the engine area. One is for engine oil drain (the one in the front)… what's the one under the tractor at the rear under the seat area?

  2. I like this for inflating tires, digital gauge and an air release. better that playing with just an air hose and a tire gauge – a lot faster too.

Husky 024-0375H Heavy Duty Digital Tire Inflator

Uses 2 AA batteries last a very long time, i use energizer lithium as the work better in the cold.

  3. Hey look, I'm Madonna 🤣. On a different note, I had no idea that NAPA (not sponsored) also carries tractor parts. I wonder if their prices are better or worse than landpro

  4. Eric, Great video. Thanks for posting. I enjoyed coming along for the ride.

Being a Kubota guy it was nice to see the maintence differences between the brands. 👍

As for the stuck filters, they are painted on during the engine build making them a bear to get off. 😆

  5. Eric, you have got to be one of best mechanics out there. That hydraulic fluid sure looked pristine. Also it appears you over torqued the filter. But what do I know, I never worked on a tractor.

  6. Even though you check that the trans is in gear, you’re trusting a little detent ball and spring with your life. Maybe this is a hydrostatic driven unit but either way just Step onto the tractor when you start the thing. My neighbor was killed by this when I was a little kid and I’ll never forget it.

  7. Nice one Eric. Astonishing that for a piece of farm equipment the front axle drain is the only one where the fluid can drain directly into a bucket. Every other point inc the filters flows onto a chassis member or engine part!

  8. As a tech at a local dealer, I enjoyed this video. I was curious though on the beet juice in the tires? We use anti freeze/water mix in our tires for weight. It makes them heavy and quite cumbersome to move around. Great video though! This what I do a lot at the shop. Retired LE officer to turning wrenches and fabricating at a tractor dealer!

  9. I had a JD riding mower. Never had any problems with it. But getting the mower deck off was a pain in the butt. The guy across the street had one too, but he bought a bigger one. Must be a mower competition thing.

  10. Always enjoy your videos! Have referred to them for "how to" a few times. You may want to take into consideration, when the loader arms are "fully extended, up" the cylinders are full. When the cylinders are lowered, the reservoir level will go up. Having been a farm boy most of my life, it was a pleasure to watch you work on an ag tractor.
Thanks again for doing what you do.

  11. Thank you for the video. I have a 5075E with about 1300 hours. The Power Reverser keeps freezing up and won't go from Neutral to Forward or Reverse. When it does, I get a "Transmission Information Indicator" Any Thoughts?

  12. the John Deere Police are going show up and give you a good talking too, you are not supposed to work on John Deere tractors. And the fact these new filters are green, you're in big trouble!
