In this video I have a look at one of the more frustrating things in the automotive repair world… The intermittent! Lucky for me in this case at the very end I was abler to isolate the problem with this instrument cluster and make the call. Sometimes you just have to wait for the problem to get worse unfortunately. -Enjoy!

  1. So my 2007 has the battery, airbag, VSA, SMS, and brake lights coming on. Sometimes with the battery light. No engine light on. When It’s doing this the wipers act crazy. Only going mega fast in slow mode, intermittent doesn’t work. Had the battery tested and alternator and they say they are good.

  2. It’s amazing how bad the quality has gotten even with the higher end manufactures because of price comparison. 42k miles and this thing already has a major electrical issue. I have a bad feeling it’s only going to get worse.

  3. Way back in 1990ish the owner of the dealership Stevens Crk Toyota, Santa Clara Ca. had a Cressida with a gauges bouncing all over issue and no start. no crank. After weeks of the shop foremans frustration I asked if I cd ck it out. it took me 10 mins to get lucky lol. I couldnt put the seat belt on. I looked inside the mechanism and found a quarter that slipoed down inside it. Used a pick to get it out put my seat belt on and started the car all gauges fine. Made me look real good and others opinions No Frkn Way. lol

  4. Thanks a lot for giving me new hope. I have a Honda Ridgeline 2008 RTL and the electrical system is acting up. First the guage is not showing the outside temp, odometer, trip and even the Headlight swithc and other info. Plus the AC blower works but the AC Radiator fan and clutch do not engage. Took it to the workshop and they say to replace the MICU. In Ghana I am not getting the same model M2 I got similar one for the Honda Accord and other models M6 and M4. I need help what do I do can I try the different models on my car? What do you or any one recommend

  5. just when I was going to get the same diagnostic scanner ordered because they fix electronic dash clusters, now they don't. What to do, What to do???

  6. I traded in my 2018 odyssey after this happened. I took it to honda and they said it was either the front camera, a battery vent fan, or a fuel injector. I was pretty annoyed with Honda.

  7. Good job Eric, a friend of mine had the same jump starting 6 months his Audi until finally the cluster gave up, no one found the issue, I said give the cluster to a electronic service and they found some led issues and other small electronics on the board and after that all good again,. Stay safe brother.

  8. You know what was really weird go to the beginning of the video and the miles on the vehicle and the trip numbers are identical except for the last digit on the mileage because it has an extra one just seemed sort of odd lol

  9. Hate these , you cant find a fault if there's no fault jobs and its always a trade off, you could try and provoke the fault to appear but do that too much and you're likely to create a new fault. You obviously know this, hence your caution. Best course of action is to lurk and hope it re-appears and is a solid fault. Luck Worked out OK in the end in this case, it isnt always the case tho.

  10. Had a problem similar to this a week ago. Explorer no crank, no start dash lights going goofy. Negative battery clamp was jerry rigged with a dry wall screw to keep it tight. Replaced the clamp and fixed the problem.

  11. Why do the (idiot) manufacturers put a 160 mph speedo in a van, or for that matter, any car? I have one in my mustang and all it does is make it much harder to figure out your actual speed,

  12. Stuff like that usually fails again about 20 minutes after the customer has it back and as soon as you’ve moved on to something else…. Leaving you looking like a jerk that didn’t even try…

  13. I fixed mine like that on my 2013 civic except I used a hammer and beat the crap out of it. 😂😂😂 could it be battery voltage fluctuation??? Sudden spike on voltage causing disruption on those sensitive gauges?

  14. My grandfathers 06 Honda Odyssey does this from time to time, most of the time its fine, then suddenly it just gets into its fits, I can't seem to figure it out as no one can seem to make it do it, I'll have to try this on his van and see, though being an 06, its slightly different.
