12:30 You 100% should have replaced that hydraulic mount too. It is right under the wishbone!
Gutless 3.2 engine in my wife’s XC 90 . Why Volvo would put such a gutless engine in such a heavy vehicle,is beyond me .
Many codes is often a sign the battery was low/died at some point. Just fyi.
Love my S90, I dont mind keeping up with the maintenance as its probably the nicest ride Ive test drove in ten years.
i changed that top mount on my engine myself in no time bugt it still makes the ghrinding noise it didn't change at all. i have been told its my shitty struts that are making the car sit lower than it should and causing the terrible grinding noise
Man, I'm so mad that he removes the coolant tank
Just use two wrenches instead of fancy electric ratchets
Would've been so much easier
I have taken my car to the shop 3 times because my car grinds like that when it’s cold, but once it warms up it goes away, had the axle replaced( torn boot) and needed brakes calipers, and pads. But they could never find the noise, watched this video and went out to my car, same mount, looked tore( not as bad as that one) but I get the noise more when I’m turning to the right, and accelerating. It’s starting to do it alittle bit when I’m turning to the left also, guessing because the engine is shifting, making it rub more on one side more than the other. I was convinced my transmission was going bad, but I’m really hoping I can fix it with a simple engine mount.
In the Volvo community we call that the torque bar, if that goes out then you pretty much need to replace the rest of the motor mounts, there is another one directly below that. If the one below it goes out you will hear a grinding noise when you let off the gas. Also don't forget the pcv system, it's on the top of the motor behind the oil cap. It will cause a high pitch squeal.
"I feel like using the wrong tool on this so that's what we're going to do"… turns out the wrong tool is the right tool. LOL
luv the Zombie in the background!
Yes, that is where you use the key to open the trunk. Pull that little rubber stopper off and the lock is revealed
I’m amazed they managed to squeeze an in-line 6 in transverse orientation into that thing!
I hear nothing
Was going to pick this up as my first car, but thinking of sticking with Japanese options instead since anything else doesn't seem very reliable.
Last time i seen a Volvo was in the late 80s. Are does cars any good?
Can tell you why that mount had probably been replaced while broken. Customer authed repairs. Came to pick up the vehicle and had no money. "Ok. I'll just put the old shit back in and you're free to take it". How it works.
The job is that car had deferred maintenance by all the issues that showed up on your computer screen or diagnostic screen if you want to call that you might have another name but the bottom line is that was the easiest motor mount I've ever seen replace or ever have replaced so why they didn't do the rest of the work is beyond me I know you can handle it maybe it'll come back I hope
Oh no ray your hose is a leaking the trolls will get you oh my goodness run oh it's all right if I never got wet working on a car my life I'd be lying have a good day
Like all other older great brands of yesterday……………..TOTAL crap & plastic shit today !
Tire patches Are definitely Aproved for pluging Coolant lines very approved Bro ingenuity at its best you use what ya got @Rainman Ray's Repairs
Ehhh dang that grinding noise is loud enough to hear on the camera with windows up Yikes @Rainman Ray's Repairs
Golf tee work for line plugs. Cheap and colorful
As a Volvo owner a couple of things: doors will unlock just by having the key on your person as will the engine turnover. No need to insert or use the buttons.
My trunk was stuck too. Turned out to be a fuse.
I believe that is the wrong coolant. My S80 and S40 use the blue.
Thanks for showing me the motor mount thing. I am better off now.
yo my explorer is making this noise. It also shakes like the first time i touched a boob, so safe bet, i've not been able to locate it but.. its coming from an undisclosed location under the engine. I thought maybe a manifold heatshield or something but my rip off doctors stethoscope said no.
At last an easy fix ðŸ˜
I think bucolic tried amongst the field of shit they must compete within.
Title, Kenny Wayne Sheppard reference?
Love this
“Dunno why the boot doesn’t openâ€
Erm…..someone has rear ended you and broken it all 😉
Ingenuity!
It's likely that the lower torque damper is missing, on those early 2010 3.2s they didn't come with them. The mounting brackets are still there and are quite easy to put in.
I was a Volvo man till they decided to become Saabs . 1998 was the last year for true Volvos. Since then they keep mechanics in business
Nice videos Rainman! Very strong and solid engines Volvo(isn't it?) and one of the safest(the safest?) car by a crash..
Always smilingly at your fabulous outlook Ray. Keep on doing that
Doo lee doo lee doo?
My 21 year old SUV has less problems than these new, high dollar, cars you get in.
Not many cars, if any, where it is as easy to change motor brackets than this. Yea the swedes know how its done all right.
🖒ðŸ¤
I used to have a Volvo, good car just expensive to repair. That was a solid built car though.
That was the easiest engine mount to replace on a car ive seen in a while.
Living dead girl: Rob Zombie playing in background lol good music for a repair day
Videos of all automotive repairs should be made standard
Rain man ROCKS
Those engines are not fun to change the serpentine belt!
I was like must be the gearbox but was amazed when it was a broken engine mount…you just know what to look for in a car with weird sounds.
Rob zombie in the background full 100000% respect!

Is it possible it broke after it was re-installed?
